Roost Smart Battery

Roost has a battery that you put in the smoke detectors and it connects to wifi to alert you when the smoke detector goes off. Didn't try it myself but it sounds like something that could do what you want.

I have a 3D printer and I'm planning to put a smoke detector in the enclosure. I want to be able to get a notification if the detector goes off when I'm away (besides just the noise). Wirecutter recommends [the Roost smart as it's "budget pick", which will cost me about $40 (USD) including shipping.

Great idea but battery power is low (doesn't work on many alarms due to setting off alerts for low battery power) and quality checking seems very lacking. I've had 3 batteries show up DOA.
