This particular smoke/CO detector seems nice for a while, then starts the dreaded random beeping, which of course has to happen at 2:45AM. I had four of these at one point and after 1-2 years of service they all ended up issuing the beep sequence decoded as "unit defective - replace" which seems terribly convenient from the standpoint of a manufacturer who wants to ship product.  I realize these do get dirty and throw codes, and in an effort to combat this I did gently vacuum them periodically, despite which they still advertised their low quality. I'm very disappointed in smoke detectors broadly, since given this short service cycle and the apparent need to replace all four every couple years or lose serious sleep and distrust them when they do go off, they become an item worthy of budgeting for, versus lumping a into low-cost maintenance item category

some say the Power Light appears every 10 minutes, our once every few hours or once a day. ( ? ) Is this a joke? An smoke alarm with a PERIODIC random power light? Sorry if it seems petty to think a power light should appear if not constant, than a period of time KNOWN AND DETAILED DESCRIPTIVELY in the product instructions. There is nothing. I bought this alarm because I have a ventless propane fireplace with fake logs. It did alarm when my fireplace was burning incorrectly, so it did it's job. I would recommend using a duracell battery for something as important as this. I recommend this alarm because CO kills many people each year and you cannot smell it

Carbon monoxide is CO not C02

 This is a very good alarm and easy to remove and install batteries and also remove the entire unit from its mounting bracket if need be. I had other brands that were most difficult to service and not last as long.

  I updated this to 4 stars as I noted that I had a 7 year warranty and I called First Alert and they are sending me another one in a week. Still not impressed that it failed in a few months, but very good customer service.

This battery has been working well so far. I have the newer white version, with v2 firmware. I got it because I have an outlet attached CO/Propane detector (Kidde KN-COEG-3 Nighthawk), which nobody makes a "smart" explosive gas detector for propane. I cannot speak to battery life, as the detector I have is hard-wired and not designed to run for long on battery (24-48 hrs

No major issues so far.

 I’d say only 2 out of 3 tests succeeded in "alarm ringing" notifications getting sent to my phones. (When they did go thru, they always sounded on both phones). A 67% success rate at detecting the alarm is pretty poor. - The battery only lasted two weeks before my alarm started chirping, even though the app thinks battery levels are good

 I’m replacing this with a regular 9V lithium. While having smart features is nice, reliability is far more important in a passive but extremely vital monitoring device like a smoke detector. The idea behind the product is promising, but I would stay away until they address these major issues.

 After my experience, I would not trust the "smart" battery to let me know when something's wrong. It didn't do the one thing it promised to do in the video spot (no 4am chirps); and as a lithium battery, it didn't even last two months. I’m replacing this with a regular 9V lithium.
