First, be aware that these are single-detector alarms--ionization type only. The better linked alarms (like Nest) are dual sensor--both ionization and photoelectric. We almost sent it back because we could not figure out how to set this thing up. The instructions were wrong and it took us 2 days and many loud testing sessions to figure out what to do. Fingers crossed they work now. For the money it cost, it should have correct instructions.

Purchaser reviewer "Nick" on the list of customer reviews for this product gave far better programming to interconnect directions than the written instructions that came with the unit.
