 I would try the S30 over this but I fear it will sound the same as the CS1 series 2. I am leaning towards the larger CSI A6 which may be a difficult match to the rest of my system, but well worth a try.

This speaker was intended to be an upgrade from an existing Polk Audio CS1 series 2 center channel speaker. In all honesty I knew that it would be asking a lot of (6) 3” speakers to perform as well as (2) 5 1/4” midrange drivers. The cabinet is an aesthetically pleasing design and I must admit the mid century design is very pleasing. But the sound quality was seriously lacking

 This little speaker just doesn’t hold a candle to the rest of my setup. It’s also kind of a giveaway at the price reductions since the speaker was released. Polk has it directly for $399, and eBay has it for $197 with free shipping (12/27/19). The speaker just is not worth anything much over $100

Don’t expect much.

I ordered this center channel speaker for two reasons. First, I've been using a Pioneer SP-C22 which was too large to place directly below my TV and this units slim profile was perfect. The SP-C22 sells for less than 100 dollars. Secondly I liked the appearance which pairs nicely with my Elac UF5's and UB5's

 I was leary that such small drivers could deliver meaningfull bass but after reading the reviews I felt like this wouldn't be a problem. Well after replacing my SP-C22 the difference was immediately obvious, basically no bass. After trying several crossover frequencies and even setting the speakers to large still nothing. Granted the mids and highs are fairly decent but overall I'm quite disapointed

Frankly I think the bass frequency of 53Hz is quite a ways off

Disappointed in bass responce

 I bought it used/like new from amazon for $144, so I guess you can't go wrong with that. But as mentioned it is lacking quite a bit in the sound quality department. I will most likely be upgrading to the Polk Audio Reserve R400 or maybe even the R350 (same idea as the S35 but hopefully much better quality).

 After much use I have concluded that at regular/ lower levels of sounds the speaker actually does sound pretty good. However, when played at loud volumes the bass is lacking quite a bit and the mid-highs are "crunchy" sounding. I was hoping that this speaker would hold its own when paired with my Polk Audio Rti A3's, but this just did not happen. Even though the A3's are bookshelf speakers and are much older, they completely over powered and sound much more crisp when compared to the S35 center channel

Not what I had hoped

 I thought it would help me hear dialogue better, but it doesn’t. I did the system auto calibrate, and after that the center channel was barely audible. So I had to manually turn it up to. Now I can hear it, but the quality is too muddy

Needed to wall mount above tv so the small size and weight were needed specs. However the mounting plates on ea end of the speaker are plastic. Plates include key holes to attach to threaded speaker mounts. The plastic is too flimsy

 If you have room to set a speaker on a shelf, there are better options at around the same price.

Decent Performance, Expensive

After 2 months of owning and critical listening, I realized its more looks than performance. Its boomy sounding when volume gets tuned up and thats annoying to listen to on such a good looking speaker. My L&R speakers still sound better than this S35 center in movies and music. I wanted to believe in this speaker but now I'm looking in for something better

I think this speaker is lacking the fulness and low end of polks earlier, larger woofer, center speakers. However it does allow it to be thin which is why I bought it because my other one did not fit height wise on my mantle between the TV. I'm disappointed in this speaker though. Not impressed

 To my relief the only damage was on the detachable grill right over one of those magnets, and the plastic had actually broken just a bit.  I figured it'd be too much hassle to box and return for what was really some minor cosmetic damage, easily fixed. A little superglue on my part got the plastic all fixed up and from the front you can't even see it. The sound is great, none of the drivers were damaged at all

  Oh well, overall I'm happy with the look and sound and I'd get it again if I ever had to, but I'll definitely have to hold Amazon to better standards... I mean, c'mon, did they pull a clearly damaged box off their warehouse shelf and just say "oh well" and overbox it anyway? Geez

 I do like how it's magnetic and not the crummy plastic pins that some units use since those always seem to break, no matter how careful you are. However, Amazon messed up big time when delivering this: The outer Amazon box was perfectly fine, unblemished, no issues. However, the Polk speaker box inside had a huge gash in the middle of it on one side, which happened to be the side facing the front of the speaker.  How Amazon missed that when packing it, I'll never know

Sounds good - better than my old speaker

 I can't emphasize the importance of this setting more. It can be set while listening to the source. Making it easy to find the one for you. Don't forget to adjust speaker levels so you can hear them all equally

 I'm running 6 monitor 70's and Polk PSW 650 sub. Receiver is a Denon AVR-X2000. Capable of driving 95 watts per channel. So it can handle the load

 Without the grill its a very handsome speaker indeed. Don't let the pictures deceive you. This is a hefty speaker. So yes, I would recomend purchasing this product

 It took a while, but dial it in I did. Tried both settings on receiver's bass distribution. Finally settled on the small speaker setting. Let the sub handle the lows

I almost returned these.

 I tried moving the speaker around testing placement and it didn't make much of a difference.  The only thing that helped this speaker was using it. Today I can say I'm actually impressed with the speaker. Over the last few days I've been using it for watching movies, via Netflix, and playing games

 I got disappointed to the point where I though something was wrong with my receiver. It was late that night so I powered every thing off and let it sit over night. The next day I tested a surround speaker in its place. No issue there

 Still a bit hollow. So I played it for a bit longer and I could hear it starting to open up. I tried moving the speaker around testing placement and it didn't make much of a difference.  The only thing that helped this speaker was using it

Didn't like it at first. After some time I can hear some major differences.
