Your choice of sub is no good - go SVS, and your center speaker doesn't match your front LR. Change it to a Q650c. I also echo the sentiments of the others in this thread - downgrade your atmos speakers and your surrounds and reinvest that money in a better sub and a better center. Also you haven't mentioned what AVR you want to use to power your theater?

After years of lurking I'm picking out the speakers for a home theater install in our remodeled basement. The room is roughly 22'x16', with the screen on the 16' side. MLP is roughly 11' from the screen. Here are my picks so far:

Speaker choices for 7.1.2 Atmos home theater

 Sound is in sync with lips. Everything comes alive with no harsh horn tweeter high ends like the klipsch. I can’t wait purchase the new 450 bookshelves to finish my Surround setup!  Only downside is no speaker grill! At $650 a grill should be included not a $30 add in. They do look pretty good without the grill though

Tried the RP-450CA from klipsch and the KEF blows it out of the water. Dialogue is very clear and base is solid. Sound is in sync with lips. Everything comes alive with no harsh horn tweeter high ends like the klipsch

 So here is the center speaker from Kev. So this is the product unboxed guys. This is real life. We're doing a real theater install and that's why it's important that you purchase from somebody that does have good customer service

1 surround system and we're also going to be doing a Sony 295 and an SI 120 inch 1.2 game.  I would try the S30 over this but I fear it will sound the same as the CS1 series 2. I am leaning towards the larger CSI A6 which may be a difficult match to the rest of my system, but well worth a try.

This speaker was intended to be an upgrade from an existing Polk Audio CS1 series 2 center channel speaker. In all honesty I knew that it would be asking a lot of (6) 3” speakers to perform as well as (2) 5 1/4” midrange drivers. The cabinet is an aesthetically pleasing design and I must admit the mid century design is very pleasing. But the sound quality was seriously lacking

 This little speaker just doesn’t hold a candle to the rest of my setup. It’s also kind of a giveaway at the price reductions since the speaker was released. Polk has it directly for $399, and eBay has it for $197 with free shipping (12/27/19). The speaker just is not worth anything much over $100

Don’t expect much.

 I bought it used/like new from amazon for $144, so I guess you can't go wrong with that. But as mentioned it is lacking quite a bit in the sound quality department. I will most likely be upgrading to the Polk Audio Reserve R400 or maybe even the R350 (same idea as the S35 but hopefully much better quality).

 After much use I have concluded that at regular/ lower levels of sounds the speaker actually does sound pretty good. However, when played at loud volumes the bass is lacking quite a bit and the mid-highs are "crunchy" sounding. I was hoping that this speaker would hold its own when paired with my Polk Audio Rti A3's, but this just did not happen. Even though the A3's are bookshelf speakers and are much older, they completely over powered and sound much more crisp when compared to the S35 center channel

Not what I had hoped

I ordered this center channel speaker for two reasons. First, I've been using a Pioneer SP-C22 which was too large to place directly below my TV and this units slim profile was perfect. The SP-C22 sells for less than 100 dollars. Secondly I liked the appearance which pairs nicely with my Elac UF5's and UB5's

 I was leary that such small drivers could deliver meaningfull bass but after reading the reviews I felt like this wouldn't be a problem. Well after replacing my SP-C22 the difference was immediately obvious, basically no bass. After trying several crossover frequencies and even setting the speakers to large still nothing. Granted the mids and highs are fairly decent but overall I'm quite disapointed

BTW I use a two subwoofers but I'm not talking about sub bass or anything even close too it, more like the base you would expect from small bookshelf speakers with the same frequency specifications. Frankly I think the bass frequency of 53Hz is quite a ways off

Disappointed in bass responce

After 2 months of owning and critical listening, I realized its more looks than performance. Its boomy sounding when volume gets tuned up and thats annoying to listen to on such a good looking speaker. My L&R speakers still sound better than this S35 center in movies and music. I wanted to believe in this speaker but now I'm looking in for something better
