That is probably your only option if you want to go that route. If you want pre-outputs for further channels than just the L&R (and subs, obviously), most of your budget would go to your AVR alone. (Minimum: Yamaha RX-A4A, Onkyo TX-RZ50, or Denon AVR-X3700H).
