Defective HDMI chipset
I'm sure you'll read a lot about the fact hdmi 2.1 chipset is full of faults with next gen devices, but that isn't even half of it. A lot of faults carry over to CURRENT gen technology. HDR banding. this happens on any hdmi 2.0 mode. Yamaha refuses to accept fault either and blames everyone else. It...
Which receiver for full HDMI 2.1 support (ATV4K, XSX with VRR/120Hz)
>I've looked at the Yamaha RX-V6A of which I very much like the design, but it seems it doesn't support full HDMI 2.1 spec, but a toned down version with no VRR or 120 Hz. Correct and it never will. Max it'll ever do is 24GBPS HDMI 2.1 stuff, meaning 4k 120hz without HDR or vrr. The 2020 model Yamahas (V4A/V6A) have a faulty chip in them and even after the HDMI board replacement they'll be crippled.
Only HDMI 2.0 due to 2.1 AVR Bug
I purchased and returned this AVR because of the HDMI 2.1 chipset bug. Search the web for HDMI 2.1 receiver bug to read about it. If you’re wanting a receiver that supports all HDMI 2.1 features you’ll need to wait until the middle of next year or later. There’s a bug in the chipset used in all curr...
Don't buy - output HDMI works intermittently
High hopes for this product. When it works it's great! BUT, HDMI input from a BluRay player and external Roku box are not passed through through the TV reliably. At this time I am not sure if it's a hardware or a software problem. I purchased an Asurion plan at the time of purchase. Called them, spo...
UPDATE 10-22-20: Recently decided to add front presence speakers since the receiver has inputs for those so after setting them up i ran the auto calibration again. One thing I highly recommend is even if you only have one listening spot i suggest you do the multiple point auto calibration so that wa...
What's all the buzz about?
I'm reading what other people are saying about this -- but I think they are missing the point. The HDMI 2.1 upgrade is intended for users who have more new equipment than just an AV receiver. Here is some of my feedback on some of the feedback posted by other users of this review blog. You wish they...
HDMI broken, horrible UI, YPAO mic broken
This receiver sounds great but not great enough to deal with all its problems. I could not for the life of me get my Xbox One S to reliably display video through this receiver to my LG CX. Directly connecting the Xbox to the TV worked great, but 9 times out of 10 there was absolutely no video signal...
If youre a gamer dont buy this.....yet (updates)
UPDATED BELOW. I bought this and the Sony x90h TV in preparation for the new game consoles from Sony and Microsoft -- and there are problems galore with both the TV and this Receiver. It's almost charming how the tv and receiver have their separate issues -- and issues together as a couple. This rec...
A great budget receiver with flawed firmware
Overall, if they fix the buggy firmware, in upcoming releases, I think I'll be very happy with this receiver. The sound quality is good. Its feature-rich. It has a nice number of HDMI inputs, all with equivalent capabilities. The price is comparable to other similar receivers and quite good for a re...
Poor Quality Control
I normally like getting Japanese products because they’re always well built and last long. This one came in a perfect box but was cosmetically damaged on the front left side? The metal on the left side from top to bottom is uneven. Clearly this was already damaged in the factory but they shipped it ...
