Is this an okay tent for a beginner backpacker?

If you like this size, you will like the Nemo Dagger 2p better. It's about half the weight of the aurora, but it costs more. I will say, weight matters a lot.

Missing parts ??

Overall I love this tent it would have 5 stars but for the little bit of disappointment in the quality of the tent pegs and lack of guy ropes with tension clips which now have to be purchased separately.

A veteran backpacker told me to always use a 2 person tent

It was nice to be able to easily manage stuff in my bag and get my kindle out, to comfortably sit up and read or write in my journal. Make myself at home, so to speak, for the 12 hours I spent in the tent that night! The double vestibules are nice as well.

It's a little heavier, but my Nemo Firefly 2P is a nice little freestanding tent that just handled 8" of rain in 3 days without a single leak. The bathtub floor was fantastic when all other campers were floating around on their sleeping pads.
