What was the last truly great Thinkpad?

lenovo ThinkPads T60 4/3 | T60 15″ WS | T61 14″ WS | R60 | X60t | X61s | X61t | X301 | T400 | T400s | W500 | X200 | X201 | T410 | T410s | 2x X220 | T420 | T420s | W520 | T430 | T440. I was given the two last machines (T430 and T440). I wouldn't have bought them otherwise. For me, the last good machines are those with the classic keyboards.

A great company and a pleasure to work with. They even fixed my problem without delay for free!

While the Thinkpad T60 Is now an antequated device I use it primarily to run multivatiate statistics with a program I own that only works on Win XP. The device is quite heavy by today's standards but unlike a desktop I can use it to work anywhere in the house. Thuse, it meets my needs beautifully.

what are the best cost benefit laptops for working with computational modeling and 3D modeling?

A used work station like a lenovo thinkpad from the p range or a HP zbook no more than a few years old and get the best spec you can find.

A good reminder of an excellent Win XP computer

Excellent condition arrived a day earlier than expected. I use it exclusively for VGA PLANETS gameplay. It is very fast at it.

I would definitely look into business laptop. Used ones can be very affordable. dell latitude, lenovo thinkpad, hp elitebook...

My Lenovo Thinkpad from nearly a decade ago hasn't been working too well for me lately, sometimes struggling with video calls and buffering videos. Also, it's graphics card isn't good enough to run a few games I'd like to play (Civ 6, Ori & the Blind Forest, Journey). Not sure if that's specifically something I'll have to look for or if all modern computers will be up to the task. I'm in the US, looking for something <1K.

Lenovo Thinkpad, you can't go wrong. I'm partial to the T series which I've been using for a long time. This is a general recommendation, if you start talking GPUs than you need to consider form factor for cooling etc...

Definitely the T60. I have the 14.1" model and it is portable by even today's standards (though not quite as slim). I still need to find an IBM branded lid and palm rest to really complete this one.

The Lenovo ThinkPad lineup meets or exceeds Apple's build quality. better warranty options as well. I'd start looking there if a Mac is out of the question.

Are there any linux laptops for around 300 euro?

I've had good luck with both Dell Latitude and Lenovo ThinkPad in that price range. Depending on where you are, Latitude might be slightly better value for money, since used ThinkPads are more talked about and popular.
