Lenovo ThinkPad T540p

PS: Thank you /r/thinkpad for helping me appreciate this brand as fellow end users. Having a solid machine is very important to me and I scored my used P50 at a steal price ($400) almost 2 years ago and treated it to some tasty mods. Also, I was never hyped on ultraportables nor convertible laptops, but I must say the X1C and X1Y are really useful machines. Left to right: T540p, T570, X1YG2, X1CG4, T460s, T450s.

A used work station like a lenovo thinkpad from the p range or a HP zbook no more than a few years old and get the best spec you can find.

Keyboard, monitor, hardware, speed, ect all 10/10 (Windows 8 Pro) But this trackpad is absolutely atrocious. 1 out of 5 stars is generous. The gestures only work about half the time... I would definitely look into business laptop. Used ones can be very affordable. dell latitude, lenovo thinkpad, hp elitebook...

It's a decent laptop. The problem is the touch pad; clunky and annoying. Pure junk. imo the T540p stands tall as a media centric ThinkPad because of that. the larger screen and 3k panel really makes it an incredible travel companion for media on the run. the linux support is perfect as well.

My Lenovo Thinkpad from nearly a decade ago hasn't been working too well for me lately, sometimes struggling with video calls and buffering videos. Also, it's graphics card isn't good enough to run a few games I'd like to play (Civ 6, Ori & the Blind Forest, Journey). Not sure if that's specifically something I'll have to look for or if all modern computers will be up to the task. I'm in the US, looking for something <1K.
