Keyboard Not Right

Love this computer! It's fast, easy to use, and lightweight. The display is great. However, the keyboard is SUPER WEIRD because the "control" and the "function" buttons are swapped compared to a normal keyboard. For that reason alone I would recommend thinking twice before buying.

This is a great laptop with great specs for the price. Battery last about 6-8 hours though which isn’t bad but is about half what it said it lasts. Overall happy with purchase though

what are the best cost benefit laptops for working with computational modeling and 3D modeling?

A used work station like a lenovo thinkpad from the p range or a HP zbook no more than a few years old and get the best spec you can find.

My Lenovo Thinkpad from nearly a decade ago hasn't been working too well for me lately, sometimes struggling with video calls and buffering videos. Also, it's graphics card isn't good enough to run a few games I'd like to play (Civ 6, Ori & the Blind Forest, Journey). Not sure if that's specifically something I'll have to look for or if all modern computers will be up to the task. I'm in the US, looking for something <1K.

Agreed. KEyboard takes a bit to get used to (had a lenovo t480s before) and a thing i recommend is that you disable the cpu boost in windows 10. The fan noise and heat gets sweet and you just loose 15% cpu power.. so you gain a lot more then you loose.

What laptop brand should I get?

Lenovo Thinkpad, you can't go wrong. I'm partial to the T series which I've been using for a long time. This is a general recommendation, if you start talking GPUs than you need to consider form factor for cooling etc...

Beautifully made, but getting a bit slow these days). I will say - I used to very strongly prefer fanless, but took a chance on a ThinkPad T480s and find the fan doesn't bother me much at all - it's mostly silent, or makes a quiet whooshing. But, since you have pretty modest performance requirements, "burner" sounds like you mean cheap/disposable (?
