Giant Defy Advanced

It's actually one of the finest descending bikes that I've ever ridden. It's up there with full-on race bikes in just how beautifully balanced it feel...

Take what you will from this. My next bike will most likely be either a Giant Defy Advanced 2 or a Synapse Carbon 105. Both under $3k and typically get good reviews.

I upgraded a few years ago to a Giant Defy advanced. It definitely has its advantages like disc brakes, better components, smoother shifting ect.

It’s the most comfortable race geometry bike I’ve ever personally rode. In August I bought a new Giant Defy Advanced because I can no longer physically ride the Waterford to anywhere near its full potential.

As others have said, the Defy is geared towards the sportive endurance type rider. I just made the jump to a Giant Defy Advanced 2 and I’m in love. It’s my first fancy bike and is damn comfortable.

I chose the Giant Defy Advanced Pro 1 because it’s lighter than the roubaix and the trek. The weight penalty of the roubaix shock absorbers wasn’t worth it. Depends how bad your roads are where you are. If you have good asphalt then you shouldn’t need the suspension.

I would go with Giant. I’ve been a big believer in Cannondale for the longest time but once I got my hands on the Defy Advanced I think it’s had me switched. For endurance bikes you get a lot more bang for your buck when it comes to Giant.

I’ve got the defy advanced 2 (105 instead of ultrgra) and I love it. A friend has the Caledonia and it’s beautiful. I really don’t think you can go wrong. Buy the one that you think looks nicest

I have a similar list and a few available to try locally. The Defy Advanced 2 was available earlier online for LBS pickup earlier today. Pros closet website is used but worth a look. Canyon bikes availability seems to come and go. Good luck!
