For being the first (and so far the only) QD-OLED monitor on the market, Alienware’s AW3423DW should satisfy a lot of people. If only it were easier to purchase right now.

Alienware's upcoming AW3423DW will have the new QD-OLED panel, 175 hz refresh rate and a 21:9 aspect ratio with an 1800R curve. Price is announced to be at $1299. The AW3423DW is terrible inaccurate OOTB and blacks turn grey, if ambient lighting hits the screen, due to the lack of a polarizer. The difference is minor and only noticable in bright colours when compared side-by-side. The AW34 also suffers from metamerism, which means perfect D65 will not look like D65 on non wide-color-gamut displays the bias is more towards a reddish-green.

I am replying to this post on my AW3423DW right now. I've had it for about two full days now, and I have to disagree. The text looks just as good on mine as any other 1440p gaming monitor I've tried.

I've been lurking on this sub, and there has definitely been a justified hype. There was a post comparing the 34GP83a-B and the AW3423DW monitors, and there is a clear difference in the darker color levels, and no back light bleed, glow, or such (from what I noticed). Now the price factor is up to you.. if you're able to afford it, go for it, but from what I see, there's a delay in orders, and you could expect yours around June if you order now iirc.

A bit strange that Tim and Vincent, two of the most respected reviewers in the world, are both wrong when claiming that the AW3423DW doesn't handle room lighting well. This seems more and more like a repeat of the "My Samsung G9 is perfect" situation. Perhaps we need to accept that there are no perfect monitors/TVs...which doesn't stop me dreaming of ever finding one though 😂.

Ordered 4 AW3423DW's - 1 had a broken control stick, 1 had colored 'tear' lines streaking across half the panel, 1 seemed fine until I noticed a dead pixel and slight damage to the screen coating layer, the last one seems to be fine (for now). Luckily, they were able to ship me replacements relatively quickly, even though the replacements were obviously refurbished. I've had many Alienware ultrawides and this has had the most QC issues by far... ...but I'd put up with the hassle again for this monitor though, it checks so many feature boxes and the picture quality is amazing as expected.
