One last note - Amazon ships these in their factory shipping box, but I had no issues. The hardshell case the bass came packaged in was fine, unblemished and totally safe when it arrived at my door. I would recommend this over any comparably priced bass, and to anyone who wants a passive, vintage-style bass that does the classic P-Bass thing exceedingly well but offers more than any other manufacturer can offer at the price. This is a lifetime type instrument for me, I believe

The only issue with the bass is that the J pickup is a bit noisy, but if you roll it down 1/4, the noise goes away. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with the bass. I had a very small issue with the shipping that the seller, GearTree, was very quick to resolve to my satisfaction. Superb customer service

I have several Yamaha instruments and they never disappoint. This is a great bass, great playability. The pickups sound great. Fast neck

You get an alder body with a maple neck and a rosewood fretboard; already uncommon these days when you have manufacturers charging you much more for basses made with poplar bodies. Folks, poplar is not a tone wood and it is only fit for making bookshelves in your kid’s bedroom. However, what really impresses me about this bass is the build quality, the playability and the tone; it’s a great bass by any measure. I was originally planning on replacing the pickups but it was not necessary, the stock pickups sound great

Terribly disappointing for a Japanese custom shop bass. The sound from the pickups were not anything spectacular. And they are the same pickups you can get in the $750 BB734a. I ended up returning the second one and got the Kingpin BFR stingray and made the right choice
