I have allergies, and I also have three dogs, so I thought it might be a good thing to try. I have been happy with it. I guess I can't say any over-the-top things like "Wow my allergies are cured!" or "my house is suddenly dust-free!" but then I didn't expect that of it. Let's face it: my house is a challenge with the dogs running in and out and tracking in all the outdoors

The fan motor has 5 speeds, of which the motor is stable on all 5 speeds, it does not start to make creeking noises on any of the higher levels. This air purifier is more efficient than a Hepa style of air purifier, that is because air freely flows through the electrostatically charged collecting grid, compared to a Hepa air purifier, in which air is forcefully pulled through a Hepa filter, requiring more power to operate.

As for noise level I have it set on either auto or 2, I fine level 3 is a little loud for me. The blue light doesn't bother me. The only thing not giving this five stars is the remote had a dead battery. Once I put in a new battery everything worked great

I would not place this unit in my bedroom with the intent to sleep while the unit is running. It's too loud. In comparison, my Rabbit Air filter is truly whisper-quiet. My next complaint is the lack of an 'auto' mode which I found on most other air purifiers

The carbon filter on the 5500-2 isn't worth it and if you want a carbon filter get a can filter and an ac infinity inline fan. There might be better options at the same price point though.
