It has spreader bars that help create the flattest lay possible, so flat our testers could get comfortable on their backs, both sides, and even on their stomachs. It's like laying in a floating cot made out of top-of-the-line materials. This was, no lie, the best night's sleep we have ever had hanging between trees. The Ridgerunner also has an optional integrated bug net. We tested the whoopie sling suspension system and found it among the easiest to hang and adjust, not to mention one of the lightest out there.
On the downside, the suspension system is sold separately, upping the price point overall. This model is also on the heavy end of the spectrum at 52 ounces for the whole system, making it less ideal for lightweight backcountry adventures. Also, it is disconcertingly easy to tip over compared to models without spreader bars. Double layer is unneeded weight if you will always (or nearly always) use an UQ and leave the pad home. If you like the lay of your heavy car-camping hammock, consider the Warbonnet Ridgerunner. You can get custom carbon poles for it that significantly reduce total weight, but it will still be heavier than a GE.

To upgrade my existing kit or replace it, that the crux. 

I have been primarily a tenter but plan on doing some Pacific Northwest and AT backpacking hammock style. I typically go out for anywhere from 2 nights to 3 weeks with aspirations of an eventual thru hike in a couple years for 1 or more of the long trails. My typical day on trail is 12-18 miles. 

Currently, have a Crua Koala Maxx setup. Seemed a good initial buy and for a complete kit at a bit over 300 bucks it has been decent to learn what I like and what I don't with it. But it really seems better suited to car camping than backpacking.

Things I don't like about it:
The weight: 7.9lbs with my HG econ 20 deg quilt
Spreader bars: they are awkward and I would prefer asym tie outs 
Not double layered: I "THINK" I would like the added versatility
Synthetic quilt doesn't compress

May be wrong/unfair to compare but it is twice as heavy as my huge DCF mid tent, therma rest pad, and HG quilt, 4.1 lbs total. I can allow for a little more weight but it is too much.

I can shave off 2 lbs by changing the daisy straps to UL HG ones, DCF tarp, and getting a down UQ replacement, cost of those 2 lbs is about $600 making it a $900 setup that doesn't solve the tie out /spreader bar issue because it the bugnet sleeves over the entire hammock making adding asym tie outs much more complicated to add. It also still weights about 6lbs, better but not great.

Looking at selling what I have and replacing it with a new system appears cheaper in the long run and to that end I have been looking at the following.

Warbonnet XLC Light double
Dutchware Clameleon 1.2 Double
Hammock Gear WanderLuxe Kit (Circadian Hammock)

The Wanderluxe kit out the gate drops the weight to a very respectful 4.6 lbs for $800 bucks. Though it isn't double layered and I think I would prefer a rectangle tarp vs a hex. haven't use a hex so don't know for certain. Seems like a good deal though.

Chameleon custom kit would be about $900 and close to 5lbs.

Warbonnet custom kit can get into a middle weight between the HG and Chameleon at around $1000, 

I "Feel" like a double layer hammock is more versatile as I always carry a closed foam pad to sit on and can double it up as insulation  during +40 deg weather nights letting my leave the under quilt home. But I have only tested it out laying on it in the crua and that worked pretty well.

So the questions:
1. Does double layer matter? Do you ever use it?
2. Do you prefer a Hex tarp vs rectangle one?
3. Which hammock do you prefer/wish you had and why?
4. Is there another option I should look at? (reviewed Mantis, Kammock, and Hennessy eliminating those for various reasons)

How is the quality from each manufacturer? While I take care of my gear I am also not the most gentle person in the world with it.

Decisions on Kit to lighten what I have or swap to Cicadian/Blackbird XLC light double/Chameleon 1.2 double

 Let'S get it on a tree all right. I got the hammock all strung up. This hammock takes a little bit of setting up. You want the foot in uh like 12 inches higher than the head end

 I mean it does lean a bit got ta get used. To that i mean, i think it's well worth it the way way you you're laying it. You know: [, Music, ], all right, so this dreamtex fabric, it combines a traditional rip, stop with a bias. Directional diamond grid to create fabric that is incredibly comfortable, cotton-like texture

 It'S actually compatible with the lynx under quilt model, so you can buy that and you can get under quilt, but you don't really need one because you put your pad right in there and that will probably make it a little more of a flat leg too. So i hope you guys enjoyed it warbonnet ridge, runner and if you like, this kind of stuff uh consider subscribing because i'm going to keep doing more hammock reviews, probably more gear reviews too.  So having come out here to do this to to set both of them up, lay in them roll around in them show you guys the the features of both of them, which is the better one. Well i'll i'll say this: if you already own one of these either one, if you have the ridge runner, whether it's this newer version or the older version, or you were one of the fortunate people that got one of the banyans before some of the supply issues Came up with covid you've got the right hammock. I don't care whether you've got the banyan or you've got the ridge runner. If you own one of these and you enjoy laying in it you've got the right hammock

 The shape is the same. You know it's great. You can lay in both of them and look out and see what whatever you want. Um, it's just kind of it's kind of nice bridge hammocks, just just provide a little bit of a different experience for you

I'm planning to purchase my first hammock camping setup.  I've done a fair amount of backpacking with a tent, and I've just never slept well.  I'm hoping that I'll be able to get more rest in a hammock, though I haven't actually tried it.  We have an Eno for lounging in the back yard, but it's not really meant for diagonal lay sleeping

  I want to purchase a hammock, suspension, tarp, and underquilt and keep it as light as my tent setup which comes up to around 4.6 pounds (Marmot Tungsten + Thermarest Prolite).  I'm fortunate to not be worried too much about cost, but of course I don't want to just throw away money.  My primary concerns are comfort, warmth, and weight

6oz HyperD, 1.7oz MTN, or 1.8oz Airwave?  Is there any benefit in going to double-layer for better wind protection, warmth, and firmer lay?  If it doesn't provide wind protection and warmth, should I just go to a heavier fabric for a firmer lay?

 You could use a single layer hammock, but if should squeeze is an issue you might want to step up to a heavier weight fabric such as 2.2 or 2.4.

I also prefer a hammock that is atleast 62 inches wide. Anything more narrow than that and I feel squeezed in. It can sometimes be tricky to find wide hammocks in heavier weight fabric, but Dream hammock does sell them. I think all of Dutch's wide hammocks are 1

I'm 6'1" and 270 at the moment. Headed to AT and I'm looking to get rid of my tent and head to a hammock. My choice at the moment is the warbonnet eldorado double. Possibly with the thunderfly. I'm also looking at the chinook system they have of a under layer to hold a quilt and over layer to replace bugnet. 

Does anyone have any ideas for big guy stuff. Or other hammock systems I should look at? I like the idea of getting a system from one place, it will all hopefully zip together.

.  I just upgraded and got a dream hammock sparrow that arrived to me a month ago. I got both the overcover and bug net, both which zip into the sides of the hammock (only one at a time, not both at same time), which I really like.

I figured I’d get a jumpstart on this season so I went to EMS Nashua NH and looked around at what they had in stock. A helpful sales person told me they stocked Eno hammocks.  I bought one and took it home to try out.

Further reading here tells me that I need tarp, a tarp line, an under quilt and straps to get really started properly.  

Eno doesn’t seems to have a the rest of these as a package for me to buy.  

Should I start piecing this stuff together on my own? 

How does a bug net attach to this hammock without any kind of zippers or attachment points?
