I checked several websites providing tips and advice; however, as a total beginner both in birdwatching and optics I still find myself at a loss when I have to make a decision, and I saw that the price gap between different products can be ridiculously huge. Can someone help me? I'm not ready to invest too much money on it yet (let's say \~150-200$ tops), but at the same time I'm looking for some decent quality product. Is it possibile within my budget, or I am dreaming? Thank you for your time!

Need help find binoculars for birdwatching

 The ocular lenses are beefier than the ones in the diamondback HD. Unfortunately, that's where the praise ends.  The image quality is superb, with very little chromatic aberration and only slight cyan and magenta color fringing in high contrast edges. One glaringly disappointing issue is just that

  I'll start by saying, I believe you get what you pay for, and quality isn't cheap. I appreciate quality, and am willing to pay extra for it. I am a hobbyist photographer, and have thousands of dollars in fast, f/2.8 professional lenses

I just received my Viper HD 10x42, and I've spent the last 3 hours sitting outside, trying to convince myself that these are better than my Diamondback HD 10x42. Unfortunately, I just can't see any significant improvement.  I'll start by saying, I believe you get what you pay for, and quality isn't cheap. Nice, but not as good as my Diamondback HD

 Usually around $250 for solid optics and good warranty. But also I like the Nikon Monarch M5 or M7 (Check REI or B&H Photo for possible deals).

I use a 85mm Vortex Razor HD for shorebirds and perched raptors. A 12x binocular is more comfortable to use and has a more pleasant, ‘bigger view’, but it isn’t going to compete with the sheer reach that a scope is capable of. I generally use my scope with a fixed 30x eyepiece, but if the atmospherics are right it can be very sharp over long distances up to 40x-45x with a zoom eyepiece.

I have a mid range 8x and 10x, and have been looking at adding a 12x for longer reach when looking at wildlife a little further off and at the ocean. These would be mounted on a tripod.   

I’ve been looking at binocular reviews online for optics such as the Tract Toric 12.5x50 at $700+ and the Vortex Viper HD 12x50 at $500+. 

(I’ve decided against the Swarovski NL Pure 12x42 at over $3000 - lolz).

Any thoughts or experiences you fine people have and would like to share? I always appreciate the expertise and wisdom! Thx...

12x in the sub-$1000 for Nature

  Eye relief seems unusually short for these binoculars. Other reviewers are ok with the short eye relief. It's hard to know until you try. I can't use these

  I found it difficult to see thru these binoculars. The field of view is small with blurry edges. The view improves if the eye cups are resting on my eyelids, but that leaves smears on the lenses. I tried it with the eye cups extended but then needed to press more firmly into my eye sockets, and still get smears when my eyes are close enough

  I tried them at night. 50 instead of 25 should be 4X brighter, but I see no better than with old 10x25.  Eye relief seems unusually short for these binoculars. Other reviewers are ok with the short eye relief

 Even if they are the same quality as the old made in Japan version as the manufacturer states, they just inherently feel cheeper now with that knowledge, especially since its branded directly on the binoculars. Overall I was vary disappointed with these and returned them. Hopefully they correct these deficiencies on for v2.

Best Binoculars of 2022 - GearLab

 I compared the Vortex Viper HD 8 x 42 with the Meopta Meopro Air HDED 8 x 42 (650 euros). If the Vortex, according to some reviews, is close to the top (Swarovski, etc), the Meopta ís the top: very, very high clarity and brightness and an amazing field view. The Vortex isn't that level. But, overall, for this price level, a good one!

 I needed a good magnification, clarity, large field of view, compact, bright and life time warranty. After many days of research and many days of testing, Vortex Viper HD were the best All Around Binoculars for the price. 8x42 is great but didn't provide the magnification needed. 10x42 provided magnification but was not bright enough and had a smaller field of view

I researched and tried binoculars for three months. I needed an all purpose binocular. I needed a good magnification, clarity, large field of view, compact, bright and life time warranty. After many days of research and many days of testing, Vortex Viper HD were the best All Around Binoculars for the price

Best All Around Binoculars!!!

  The roosting turkeys were about a half mile away and I did not have any real trouble viewing them, a tribute to the clarity and brightness of these optics.  They also peer into shadows really well which is very useful when viewing birds in trees with many leaves. There were many caves and crevices in the cliffs where I was hiking and I could investigate all of these even though it was very shaded inside them.

Overall I'm very happy with this purchase and feel like I spent my hard earned money very wisely.

Now on to the fun stuff. These binoculars are freaking amazing for the price, a typical Vortex product.  Super bright. Super clear

Great Buy, short term review

 I had some trouble with the dioptic focus ring so I sent them in for repair under Vortex’s excellent lifetime warranty. To my surprise they sent these excellent binoculars to replace the Talon. You can read other reviews about how great the Viper binoculars are. I just want to give Vortex a shout out for great customer service and the best warranty in the industry!!! That alone is worth a few extra bucks over the Nikon Monarch or other brands

Not just great binoculars, a great company.

 I shipped them back to Vortex and got them back fully repaired, assiduously cleaned, and almost like-new, after only two weeks. During the holiday season, too! These binoculars are worth it for the optics alone, but the warranty is excellent added value.

This pair of binoculars is my primary birding set. As the specifications attest, they are quite sharp, very bright, suffer no noticeable chromatic aberration, and have a wide field-of-view. I'm reviewing these well after buying to recommend them for another reason: the warranty is as advertised. After about 7 months, the bins somehow came out of collimation (not sure how, exactly)

Excellent optics with a great warranty

After doing some research I ended up purchasing the Vortex Viper 8x42. Im very happy with this purchase. To start with the uncondtional Vip lifetime warranty is amazing. It adds to peace of mind! It comes with the glaspak chest harness and it really fits well

 It feels very stable in my hands and the construction just feels very sturdy. The ultimate test for these binos will call in the following 2 weeks. But so far just in the backyard it's really impressed me.
