I love it, as long as I keep the rides below 20 miles. It is so comfortable. Brand new was $699 so maybe luck find a used one may work for your budget.

Hi everyone!

I am facing a special challenge as my (new) job is transitioning back to in-person attendance. Unfortunately, I moved from a big city to the middle of the Ozarks in the US for this job, and I'd never learnt to drive because I could neither afford a car, nor did I need to learn for daily deeds. 

But I can bike! I am somewhat of a newbie commuter, so I was looking to purchase a beginner hybrid bike. My budget is about $700 (maximum; cheaper bikes preferred), and unfortunately the local market is saturated and I can't seem to find a second-hand bike that's the right size (for context, I am F 5'3" (160cm)). The primary purpose would be to commute ~3 miles to work everyday, but I hope to bike for fitness as well. There are paved bike trails and such around, but there are some steep inclines on my way to work. 

My research is taking me to one of three bikes: (1) Marin Presidio 1, (2) Marin Fairfax/Terra Linda, (3) Trek FX1 Disc. Is this the right choice to make? Are there better options that I could be looking at?

Looking for Hybrid bike recommendations under US$700!

Road bikes are too fragile -- for me this is the perfect compromise. I often bike off road, but nothing extreme.

FX 2 Disc -- fast, responsive hybrid.

 You have to slam the gear changer up or back and hold it briefly to have the derailleur disengage from one sprocket and reengage to another. I'm sure I'll get used to it because I'm just looking at it as a new adventure every time I go for a ride. My first product review ever:  When I signed up to do a metric century ride, I looked to replace my metal town bike with fenders for a lighter hybrid bike.  From the moment I mounted this bike, I knew it was the one for me.  It was light enough to lift with one hand and rode like the breeze.  The bike is both speedy and hill flattening
