 This sharpener takes quite a bit of steel off the knife when new. You will see the shavings as you pull the knife through. But after using it for over two weeks, the sharpener seems to have worn down and no longer catches the blade of the knife as it used to. So, now I'm returning the product

Since when did we start wanting kitchen utensils to be large and bulky and to use up our little remaining counter top?  I have used it on huge kitchen knives, steak knives, paring knives, pocket knives and filet knives. I did not come across a knife, no matter how dull, that took more than 30 seconds to sharpen. So while I cannot attest to its performance on other blades, I have never seen anything like it for the knives I have used it on.
