 I have been aiming for this bass for quite some time now and I cannot be happier.

Consider a Sire Marcus Miller bass. Amazing value and playability. I’ve been ignoring my Dingwall a lot since picking up a V5 on a whim.

Was looking for something more trebly and melodic than my Precision. Went to the store, tried some basses. Didn't know much about the Marcus Miller Sire basses, but fell in love immediately. The guy at the store even said "I could tell you liked that one", because I was jamming on it for quite some time haha

 You can see there's angled at a 45-degree angle here. Now, I did notice that the saddles on the 434 and 234 are smaller than both what's available on the 734 and on the 2025X models. I'm going for a more traditional vibe here, so I think right now I actually prefer the smaller bridge and saddles on this bass. The pickups are now standard size and shape P&J pickups

 Now, I actually love the sound of the stock pickups, and I should note that the old pickups were something that I didn't love at first. I thought they sounded a little too thick, which makes it kind of hard to get that P-bass grind, and the bridge pickup was never as bright as I would have hoped. But when I started using it, especially on dance tracks, my appreciation for kind of the unique BB Sonic character really grew. The controls are neck volume, bridge pickup volume, and master tone, also different from the older model, which had volume, tone, and a three-way selector

 I'm going for a more traditional vibe here, so I think right now I actually prefer the smaller bridge and saddles on this bass. The pickups are now standard size and shape P&J pickups. This is something that I was really excited about with the possibility of upgrading the pickups. Maybe a set of Aguilars or even a set of DiMarzio DP-122s for more of like a retro style upgrade

 Today we're reviewing the Yamaha BB434 bass and comparing it to the prior generation of Yamaha broad bass models,

 namely this BB1025X 5-string. Both basses were made in their Indonesia factory.

 Now, I understand that the BB1025X was a higher priced item than the 434 and that it's a 5-string.

 But I wanted to get something smaller for the gigs

 I've been playing and wanted to check out the simpler end of Yamaha's line. Let's start with the new BB434.

 I first came across this bass while creating the budget basses under $500 video.

 This was the bass that sent me down the path of checking out budget basses from several manufacturers.

 The BB434 has a 34 inch scale, five-piece maple and mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard and

 open gear tuners on the back. And when this bass arrived, it actually had a broken tuner on the G string.

 I reached out to Yamaha support via chat. It took about five minutes and they were really quick to send out a replacement tuner.

 So props to Yamaha for their awesome support.

 So there are a few differences here between the current generation and the prior generation of BB basses.

 First, the headstock on the current basses, they're all painted black.

 I like the way they added this raised medallion with the Yamaha logo. It's a pretty cool touch.

 The headstock color looks great on a black bass. It looks okay on a sunburst bass.

 But I'm not really a fan of the black headstock with the teal base,
