 That'll just get wrapped around here and you just tighten it down. Don't worry, it's not an electrical wire or anything like that. It's just to create a common ground. Then you're going to be able to use the line out

 So that can be anything from your home theater to your sound bar. Maybe you have a PA speaker, some speaker monitors on your desk, that sort of thing. You're going to need a phono preamp because your old system was set at a phono level, which is basically one third about the amount of power that today's systems require. By the way, that was the way back then because only phono preamps and maybe some reel-to-reels work this way

 So a set of RCA cables from here to whatever you want to plug it into. Again, that's going back to your speaker monitors, your home theater system, your receiver, whatever you have, that's going to go here. As for the quality of the unit, if you have a reasonably priced system that's under, you know, a thousand bucks, this is going to be pretty much generically the same as what was in a system 20 years ago. So if you would have looked at a Sony, a Kenwood, a JVC or a Pioneer or any type of retail consumer product that you would have bought 10, 20 years ago, this would have been what was built into it

I ordered this to hook my turntable up to a 90's vintage Sony receiver which did not have a phono preamp. Previously, my turntable was hooked up to an older (70's vintage) Kenwood KR 2090 with one integrated. On hooking it up, I noticed that my records sounded noticably more tinny than before.
