 So for instance, if you don't have the always on ambient display active or just a couple of quick taps, can now wake up the Oneplus Note 2 so you can see what's going on. Reduce to wake also now works, although it won't make the Oneplus Note 2 scan for your face to try and unlock the device. But besides that, no issues with the face unlock That works well even in ambient light. and the in-display fingerprint sensor is also a winner

 And supposedly the Oneplus Note 2 boasts the smartest auto brightness uh, on any one plus sunset. But I gotta say, it's actually one of the worst performances I've seen in quite some time. Quite often I'll be sat there in a completely dark room, and for some reason, it would max out the brightness and pretty much burn right through my retinas. So overall, I gotta say, it actually seems about as intelligent as an inbred poodle with a really bad glue sniffing habit

 And I gotta say, if you wanna go for that sort of stockish Android experience with guaranteed updates for an extra bit of peace of mind and some pretty premium hardware as well all for a respectable price, then this is pretty stiff competition for that Google Pixel 4. Sure, the camera isn't as good as the Google Pixel smartphone, but the performance is definitely a step up. So if you want to do lots of gaming on the likes of Gentian Impact, well job done. so that's why I think anyway

 No worries at all. Generally around five to six hours of screen on time before I start to get into the serious drags. And even with pretty much all of the features toggled on, including the always-on ambient display, I still found I generally got around sort of five hours of screen on time, so really not bad at all. And on top of that, you've got that dual battery design, which means that the Oneplus Note 2 supports the same fantastic Warp Charge 65 tech as the Oneplus 9 flagship smartphone

OnePlus Nord 2 5G Review | Best New Mid-Range Smartphone?

 There’s no flagship Qualcomm chipset, but instead you get a processor that has no trouble handling the day-to-day duties of a modern smartphone. No wireless charging, but fast wired charging that more than makes up for it.

 Biometrics are handled via a snappy in-display fingerprint sensor, and there’s a physical slider to switch between silent and vibrate on the right of the phone. 

I got a little under five hours of screen-on time out of the Nord 2’s 4,500mAh battery, easily enough to last through a full day with a little to spare. But I was more impressed by the inclusion of Warp Charge 65 fast-charging here. When charging from zero, I hit 89 percent after a half hour, and 99 percent after 35 minutes, which felt remarkably quick. You have to use one of OnePlus’ proprietary chargers and the cable it comes with to get these speeds, but at least you get both in the box

 Yes, you miss out on Qualcomm-exclusive features like high quality AptX Bluetooth audio, but otherwise switching between apps was hitch-free, and the processors’ GPU happily made the most of the phone’s smooth 90Hz display while scrolling through even a relatively graphically intensive Twitter feed (which, in comparison, stuttered on the original Nord). I noticed the phone being slightly slow to wake up on a couple of occasions, however, but overall performance was on a par with, if not slightly better than the original Nord in everyday usage. 

The most notable sign that this isn’t a flagship OnePlus device is its processor, which is a MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI rather than one of Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 888 chips. Considering MediaTek is a brand more commonly associated with budget devices, I was apprehensive about its inclusion on the OnePlus Nord 2, but I came away pleasantly surprised by performance overall. Yes, you miss out on Qualcomm-exclusive features like high quality AptX Bluetooth audio, but otherwise switching between apps was hitch-free, and the processors’ GPU happily made the most of the phone’s smooth 90Hz display while scrolling through even a relatively graphically intensive Twitter feed (which, in comparison, stuttered on the original Nord). I noticed the phone being slightly slow to wake up on a couple of occasions, however, but overall performance was on a par with, if not slightly better than the original Nord in everyday usage

From its screen to its fast-charging, the Nord 2 has it where it counts

 The Ultra wide can shoot footage in 1080p and the quality is decent with ok detail, low noise, and impressive dynamic range. The colors are a bit washed out though, so that's the Oneplus Nord 2 5g. You get a snazzy looking and solid build, a bright and colorful 90hz amoled, great battery life with blazing fast charging stereo speakers, a high-end chipset paired with a snappy interface, and good camera quality both in the day and at night. And on top of that, there's almost nothing to complain about here

 Great for finding something right when you wake up the phone. The interface of the Oneplus Nord 2 is Oxygen Os 11.3 based on Android 11.

 It was able to score an endurance rating of 102 hours in our proprietary tests. But even more impressive is the charging speed. The Nord 2 brings Oneplus Warp Charge technology, which combines a 65 watt adapter with a battery that's split into two cells that charge simultaneously. Warp charge is incredibly fast

 Not quite top flagship grade, but right up there in the charts. As far as the thermals go, the Nord 2 does a decent job. It does throttle under prolonged stress, but was able to maintain decent performance about 76 percent of the maximum. This is no dedicated gaming phone, but you should be able to play all the heavy games

OnePlus Nord 2 5G review

 but it is still mainly thanks to Oxygen Os. and we're now on 12.1 on top of Android 12. That makes the biggest impact for the 2t, feeling fast and responsive to use

 so it's not actually quite on an even playing field with a 2t. But despite that in multi-core the 2t is 14 faster, although we're not seeing that much change for the single core. But then if we switch over to the 3dmark Wildlife stress test, not only is the peak score 10 higher, but just look at that stability 99 versus around 60.

 Now we do get a pretty good size 4500 milliamp hour battery in here. Again, no surprises, same as before and while I have only been using this for a few days, it does seem to perform quite well. I'm getting to about 11 pm at night with about 25 still on the tank. Plus, of course you can quickly top it up thanks to that supervooc charger

 So this new, more efficient chip has basically eliminated throttling, which of course is a really big deal for gamers. so it's about 10 to 15 faster than the Nord 2, not something you'd really notice in everyday use. although as I say, the stability that you get, especially with longer gaming sessions will be noticeable. But I think for most people day-to-day use, I would much rather have seen a 120 Hertz upgrade over this 90 Hertz

 As night mode on, the FE's ultrawide is flat out superior to the S20 Plus, with consistently better sharpness. When zooming at night with the telephoto, the FE produces better results as well, with improved detail, lower noise, and wider dynamic range than the S20 Plus. The difference isn't as pronounced with night mode on though. Both produce some pretty good photos

 Overall, it looks elegant, though you will notice that the bag is made of plastic here, not premium Gorilla Glass. The frame is aluminum though, and you still get full IP68 water and dust resistance you'd expect from a high-end Samsung phone. On the front is a flat 6.5 inch Super AMOLED display with a small punch hole for the selfie cam

 The resolution is a bit lower than the regular S20 at 1080p, but it still brings that fast 120Hz refresh rate. And it's worth noting that if you turn the regular S20's display to its fast 120Hz refresh rate, its resolution will dial down to 1080p as well. The high refresh rate makes scrolling and moving elements on screen look much smoother to the eye. It isn't adaptive to content like some other solutions we've seen though

 We had a less than pleasant experience from the ultrawide though. The frame rate isn't steady with the stabilization on, and you get some jerky movement every now and then. The telephoto is somewhere in between. The frame rate is constant, but is still a little shaky

The Pixel 4a has Google’s clean, fast version of Android 10 with three years of guaranteed updates. It also offers camera performance that’s better than what you’d get with phones that cost three times as much. However, the Pixel 4a isn’t quite as fast as the Pixel 4a 5G or Galaxy S20 FE. On top of that, it doesn’t offer wireless charging, and the plastic body isn’t water resistant. It does, however, have a headphone jack.


There is also the Google Pixel 4a 5G, it looks like a blown-up Pixel 4a, and it runs the same excellent version of Android with guaranteed updates through fall 2023. It also has a faster processor, bigger screen, longer battery life, and a dual-camera setup on the back. You might want to buy this over the 4a for the display and better battery life, but it’s not worth spending more money just to get 5G right now.

The S20 FE has almost all the same high-end specs as the S20s released in early 2020, but it costs hundreds of dollars less. The processor and 6 GB of RAM keep it responsive even if you’re playing 3D games or keep a lot of apps running in the background. Samsung didn’t even skimp on extras like water resistance and wireless charging—the Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, and OnePlus 8T don’t have either. The S20 FE has a matte plastic back instead of glass, but it does come in several fun colors. (The model I have is one of the more boring colors: navy.)

With its 6.5-inch 1080p OLED screen, the S20 FE offers a considerably larger screen than the Pixel 4a, but it’s not ideal for one-handed use. Like all of Samsung’s OLEDs, the screen is bright and vibrant, and you even get a 120 Hz refresh rate that makes animations exceptionally smooth like more expensive S20 phones. The S20 FE uses an in-display fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone or authorize within apps, and it’s just as fast and accurate as other S20 phones. OnePlus and Google have faster fingerprint recognition, though.

The S20 FE runs the same version of Android 10 as other recent Samsung phones, named One UI. I don’t like One UI as much as Google’s Pixel version or OnePlus’s Oxygen OS because it’s more cluttered and less intuitive, but it’s not a dealbreaker, and the high-end hardware keeps the phone feeling responsive even with heavy multitasking and gaming. Samsung promises three years of monthly security updates on the S20 FE, which is matched only by Google. However, Samsung is slower to release major OS updates like Android 11, which should come to the S20 FE in late 2020 or early 2021.


There are three cameras on the back of the S20 FE, giving you more shooting options than Google’s phones: wide, ultrawide, and telephoto. The telephoto is only 3x zoom, but that’s more than you’ll get from either Pixel 4a version or even the more expensive S20 and S20+ from early 2020. The FE drops the 8K video recording option from the more expensive S20 versions, but this is more pixels than you can even display on most of the screens that you own. Samsung’s image processing favors longer exposures and pumped-up colors, which doesn’t offer the best experience in low-light situations. Google’s camera performance remains better overall, even at half the price.


Edit: The Pixel 5 is the “best” Pixel phone you can buy, but it’s too expensive for what you get. The camera setup works well, but it’s identical to the 4a 5G. It also has the same Snapdragon 765 processor and software as the cheaper Pixel phones. The Pixel 5 gains water resistance, wireless charging, and a 90 Hz display, but that’s not enough to justify the $700 price tag. That’s the same as the S20 FE and twice as much as the Pixel 4a, which is almost as good in most ways.

<p>A bigger, more powerful Android phone.</p>

<p>The huge, 6.5-inch OLED screen offers vibrant colors, deep blacks, and a high refresh rate to make animations smoother. The Galaxy S20 FE has one of the fastest processors available and will get three years of guaranteed OS updates, but the Android software isn’t as good as Google’s version.</p>

<p>If you need a bigger screen than is offered by any of the Pixel models but don’t want to spend over $1,000 on a phone, buy the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE (Fan Edition). This device has a spacious 6.5-inch 1080p display that refreshes 120 times per second (120 Hz), which makes scrolling and navigating through apps look impressively smooth. The processor is top-of-the-line, which means the S20 FE works better with heavy multitasking and gaming compared with the Pixel phones. Samsung’s take on Android can be clunky and confusing when up against Google’s streamlined Pixel version, but Samsung does promise three years of updates like Google, though major system updates do take longer to reach Samsung’s phones. The S20 FE currently runs Android 10, but it should have the latest Android 11 soon.</p>

<p>It’s a good upgrade if you want a bigger screen, wireless charging, or improved gaming performance compared with the Pixel 4a 5G.</p>

<p>The S20 FE has almost all the same high-end specs as the S20s released in early 2020, but it costs hundreds of dollars less. The processor and 6 GB of RAM keep it responsive even if you’re playing 3D games or keep a lot of apps running in the background. Samsung didn’t even skimp on extras like water resistance and wireless charging—the Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, and OnePlus 8T don’t have either. The S20 FE has a matte plastic back instead of glass, but it does come in several fun colors. (The model I have is one of the more boring colors: navy.)</p>

<p>With its 6.5-inch 1080p OLED screen, the S20 FE offers a considerably larger screen than the Pixel 4a, but it’s not ideal for one-handed use. Like all of Samsung’s OLEDs, the screen is bright and vibrant, and you even get a 120 Hz refresh rate that makes animations exceptionally smooth like more expensive S20 phones. The S20 FE uses an in-display fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone or authorize within apps, and it’s just as fast and accurate as other S20 phones. OnePlus and Google have faster fingerprint recognition, though.</p>

<p>The S20 FE runs the same version of Android 10 as other recent Samsung phones, named One UI. I don’t like One UI as much as Google’s Pixel version or OnePlus’s Oxygen OS because it’s more cluttered and less intuitive, but it’s not a dealbreaker, and the high-end hardware keeps the phone feeling responsive even with heavy multitasking and gaming. Samsung promises three years of monthly security updates on the S20 FE, which is matched only by Google. However, Samsung is slower to release major OS updates like Android 11, which should come to the S20 FE in late 2020 or early 2021.</p>

<p>There are three cameras on the back of the S20 FE, giving you more shooting options than Google’s phones: wide, ultrawide, and telephoto. The telephoto is only 3x zoom, but that’s more than you’ll get from either Pixel 4a version or even the more expensive S20 and S20+ from early 2020. The FE drops the 8K video recording option from the more expensive S20 versions, but this is more pixels than you can even display on most of the screens that you own. Samsung’s image processing favors longer exposures and pumped-up colors, which doesn’t offer the best experience in low-light situations. Google’s camera performance remains better overall, even at half the price.</p>

<p>Edit: The Pixel 5 is the “best” Pixel phone you can buy, but it’s too expensive for what you get. The camera setup works well, but it’s identical to the 4a 5G. It also has the same Snapdragon 765 processor and software as the cheaper Pixel phones. The Pixel 5 gains water resistance, wireless charging, and a 90 Hz display, but that’s not enough to justify the $700 price tag. That’s the same as the S20 FE and twice as much as the Pixel 4a, which is almost as good in most ways.</p>

Music (Spotify), I want to play emulator games (just Pokémon, nothing crazy), some picture taking. 

What’s important: good battery life- a shitty battery is my biggest pet peeve. 

This is my first android, so something that’s kind of user friendly would be nice.
