 It is definitely overpriced. If you don't need gaming or the touch screen, but instead performance for things like video editing, then a MacBook is without a doubt the product to get. This product is mostly for people that want a decent computer with adequate to mediocre performance for the price, a beautiful display with touchscreen capabilities, and a high refresh screen, all while keeping decent temperature. The screen is beautiful, and the touchscreen response is great. The dedicated GPU is fine to run smaller games. There has been some screen flickering while using but this could potentially be fixed with a software update. Battery life is so far lasting just enough for 8ish hours with web browsing and using office products

Overpriced but possibly worth it if you know what you want

 I don't know if this is caused by a faulty GPU, a bad driver, or a loose screen ribbon cable, but I've upgraded both and they still persist. I've had this issue ever since launch. As I have not seen other units with this specific issue and is a minor issue overall, not affecting compute performance or system stability, I'm counting this as a run-on-the-mill production error and am not deducting a star. Doesn't seem like a commonly-plagued issue

 Not many games tend to honor the 3:2 aspect ratio.  Ergonomics - The device feels solid and well to rest your hands on. There are no sharp corners and the ~4 pound weight isn't unwieldy, being contained to a small frame and footprint. The hinge is sturdy, but requires two hands to activate (to switch to Studio/Stage mode) if you don't want to place too much force in one spot of the LCD

 This is my only gripe with the keyboard.  Performance - I did not notice extreme thermal throttling, and fan noise was not aggressive at high load. However, the fans are located to the sides of the device, and you will certainly feel them at some point during normal use if you ever rest your hands to the side of SLS. Drivers seemed to be half a year or older out of the box, oddly including the Nvidia drivers

 The saving grace, however, is that the keyboard's Fn key natively works more as a Fn switch (with an indicator light) instead of a normal Fn key, which alleviates the issue entirely as you can switch the tasks of the function row at will without dealing with the UEFI. Directional arrows are a low point with  not being consistently sized with the vertical directional keys. This is mainly an issue when it comes to feeling around for each key without looking down, since the keys are not uniformly sized. I don't understand why manufacturers do this; it provides no benefit to usability or design

Also, if it was asleep when you opened it, the laptop wakes up automatically, but it takes a couple of seconds, which was enough for me to click the power button and turn it off 🤦‍♂️. Battery life is honestly shite. No matter what I did, it never gave me substantially more than 4 hours.

There are a couple reasons for this: the Laptop Studio’s 58 watt-hour battery is much smaller than the 15-inch Book 3’s 80 watt-hour cell, and Windows 11 doesn’t yet support the Dynamic Refresh Rate mode that was part of the original announcement. That means the 120Hz screen is running at 120Hz all the time, which consumes more power. You can dive deep into the display settings to set it to 60Hz, but even when doing that I only managed to eke out another hour of battery life. Dynamic Refresh Rate would allow the screen to automatically change its refresh rate depending on what you’re doing, which should theoretically save battery

Still, even if you’re Microsoft’s ideal customer, you need to give up a lot of money and battery life to get this screen with all its flexibility. But if you’re willing to be flexible yourself, and don’t really need a screen that moves in unique ways, the Dell XPS 15 is a lovely computer that costs a bit less while providing a bit more power.

But in typical Surface fashion, there’s something different going on when you look closer. Though you can use the Laptop Studio just like a standard laptop, you can also pull the screen forward to bring it closer to you for touch interaction, or lay it flat to write on it like a tablet. Microsoft is not the first manufacturer to deploy such a design, but the Surface Laptop Studio is certainly the sleekest laptop yet with it.

 That happens because display is slightly bent in the middle on that side. You'll take a ruler to figure if that's true and you'll find that not only that side is bent/bowed but all sides of display aren't straight. It might be normal though but I'm not sure if it should be this way. I see that other laptops I own have some sort of curvature, but I never noticed it because that laptop do not have touch displays

 It looks like a software glitch, but over course of 6 months it wasn't addressed (you can search on Reddit about other people reporting this issue). - You'll notice sometimes after pulling laptop out from a backpack touchpad becomes very sensitive. You won't be able to figure for a long time what's going on, but eventually you'll find out that putting laptop to sleep and flipping it upside down for 10 seconds reproduces issue. Weird, huh? - Eventually, in tablet mode you'll find out when you press on the screen near one of the edges it moves and slightly hits laptop's base which produces annoying sound

 It doesn't have double clicking sound when I press though. I'd say that initially you going to be satisfied with this product but at some point you'll start noticing some issues such as: - Sometimes pointer would jump back to a previous position when you press touchpad. It looks like a software glitch, but over course of 6 months it wasn't addressed (you can search on Reddit about other people reporting this issue). - You'll notice sometimes after pulling laptop out from a backpack touchpad becomes very sensitive

My unit has weird behavior of the touchpad. When haptic feedback works it sounds like double click. Sometimes after waking up from sleep a very light touch would activate haptic feedback. Only after sometime this issue goes away

The Enter key is SO soft and mushy and I've noticed many of the keys, like the pair of Space bars, are also soft and don't register contact multiple times. VERY frustrating as I can type around 50 wpm and I'm having to Backspace WAY too much! GRR!. I want to send this POS back and try another brand, but I've found no other alternatives in my searches.

 It might be marginally but use it for a couple hours and it's going to need a charge. I wouldn't recommend this for students. Having 2 classes in row will mean you're looking to sit near a plug in class to keep it charged. You can dim the screen down but that's not always possible when you're in a bright classroom

 My old model, with a card slot, I routinely swapped out cards depending on my usage. I was hoping the battery life was some improved. It might be marginally but use it for a couple hours and it's going to need a charge. I wouldn't recommend this for students

Good but with some disappointments.

We did not open the shrink wrap as there was no indication of a keyboard. Be aware of false depictions of keyboard included even in the video. Otherwise, the product should be ok if you want a tablet, not a PC.
