Just by picking up the Kirby it made my Dyson feel like a toy. The Kirby feels very well constructed and I’m excited to have a more quality vacuum than the DC50. I may still keep it around just because it’s a bit more maneuverable and I have the attachments with it, but I feel the Sentria will likely take over the reigns. I've been collection Kirby Vacuum Cleaners for 13 years. I have vintage Kirby's from the 1940's to a the new Sentria model we purchased just last month. I find the Sentria to be just as powerful suction wise as any of the Kirby Generation series model's. It might work OK if the longer pile rug is permanently installed wall to wall, but for longer pile throw rugs, this machine is not good. -Wish the beater bar would turn off when I'm using the wand or the "power paw". The beater bar just spins and spins when I'm using the wand. - No storage place on the machine for an extra section of wand - that's annoying

What I've found out is the price is very negotiable and you can get a better deal by being persistent.

the vacuum needs a 2 way power switch so the roller brush can be shut off while using the hose and wand. A little expensive.

The thing is big! It's shiny! It's noisy and powerful! Hell, it's made of METAL! What's not to love! Get one of these machines and we will never need another vacuum for the rest of our live! This thing will be a family heirloom! Kirby salesmen direct their pitch to the husbands. Check this thing out! It can do everything! She can shampoo the carpets, vacuum my car, clean invisible bugs out of the bed (yeah, that one is directed at her)..

.we have now had this over 10 years and despite needing a cord repair (again from an inattentive user running over and over the cord thus fraying the rubber covering) and repair of the handle locking mechanism (each costing about $60) any hose clog, brush entanglement or other suction problem has been so easy to troubleshoot myself that the power of the vacuum today is the same as when I bought it. It easily pulls up all the labrador hair from the corner of the rugs and transitions easily from rugs to hard wood or tile floors

The salesman quoted us a $900 price but actually based his price on how much we could afford. We gave him a comfortable payment and from then on it was bang,bang, bang and we were talking to the finance company and before we knew what hit us we bought the darn thing. Kenmore canister vacuums are good value for the price and occupy a narrow middle price range. They aren't budget but aren't Buy It For Life either. They are one of the cheapest options for a canister vacuum with an electric power head and they usually come with lots of accessories. The Kenmore will clean fairly well, all vacuums are limited to 12 amps by our household outlets

Same thing happens, another ridiculously large amount of baking soda just explodes into the filter section and he has to shut it off. This happens honestly about another 6 times until it finally seems like the amount of baking soda blasting into the filter starts to tone down a little. It was completely crazy. It made this other uber-expensive $800 vacuum look like a fisher-price toy

. ten years in and I am just now servicing it with a new filter and belt, and not because it is faltering at all but just because it has been faithful for TEN years! I was also told Sebo vacuums have been used for decades in the White House and that it will last long enough to pass on to my kids! Not sure about that, but honestly the thing is a workhorse and worth the price tag.
