We feel that using the vacuum is very easy on your back compared to our experience with upright units. The hose in this model with the pivoting head makes it easy and less burdensome, since you don't have to worry about the hose getting twisted up on you. Switching attachments is also very quick and easy, and the different mechanisms feel like the rest of the unit, well made and durable.

This is a good basic vacuum that does what it is supposed to do but I found nothing special about it. I do not normally criticize other suggestions, but do not get a Dyson Ball, especially the Cinetic version. They have no filter before the motor and a "lifetime" filter after the motor which is annoying to replace. They come into local vacuum cleaner shops all the time at only a year or so old with bad motors, bad brush rolls, broken bin latches, and so forth. They are a huge waste of money.

The reason we bought this vacuum is because we were tired of having to buy new vacuums every 1 - 2 years when they start to perform less than optimally. I dislike them because the build quality on them is about as bad as it gets. I receive them broken or ruined at a much higher rate than any other vacuum cleaner, only second to the current Dyson Ball models. It is kind of like buying a Nissan or BMW for Dyson if you are a mechanic. They are cool looking machines and seem to work well when they are new, but they are disappointing.

Also, I don’t like the hose. When you stretch it out to use it, it really wants to cinch back up. So you are using one hand to aim at what you are cleaning and another to fight to stretch the hose. To do over, I would either do another brand, either something cheap or bite the bullet and get something super fancy.

I bought a Vertex after using a Dyson ball for years. The Vertex may not be the best on carpets but damn thing is the best hard floor cleaner I've ever used. And pet hair? Not even close to being a problem. The thing is really good.
