I love the design and attention to detail this watch has, plus the fact that if you change the strap to a brown leather or even fabric it can be matched with more casual wear. That being said, I’m fairly vain (despite my best efforts) and I bought myself this Hamilton Khaki King II to commemorate my second anniversary of sobriety. I don’t know a ton about watches but after some research I decided to spring for this as it seemed commonly touted as a decent automatic. So far, I really enjoy the way it wears, and generally everything about it aside from one major quirk: no AR coating on the sapphire dome.

In the end, for me, it felt more my style than a sub and has a bit more unique character to it. My favorite element is the contrast between the matte dial and the gilt shiny hands and marker surrounds.

The bold day and date wheels at the top of the dial were what attracted me to this model. All in all, this watch is as good as it gets for a precision made functional time peice, built to exacting standards with Swiss excellence. The top stitched leather strap is made of heavy harness leather, and lined on the inside with calf-skin for comfort. It comes together with a heavy duty stainless steel buckle bearing the Hamilton name

A lot has been said about this one but it really is close to perfection. Timekeeping wise this is the most accurate mechnical watch I've owned, in a week it had gained 4 seconds which is really awesome.

That's a keeper for me. The black is REALLY black and the contrast with the numerals and hands is great. Nice hacking movement with tons of reserve. Quality strap

After seeing the Tudor Black Bay 58 on social media I had to go into an AD and see one for myself. Went to the closest AD and found one on their nato strap, tried it on, and fell in love! But I did not buy it on site. I had to try it on the bracelet before pulling the trigger.

That said, I've worn the watch daily for over a year and have known no compromise in its performance. I appreciate the American heritage, the Swiss manufacturing, and the casual elegance. It's also very practical to have both day and date complications. This is a great watch for the money

Perfect travel watch. I take this and this watch only on all of my overseas travel – functional, robust, don’t have to stress about banging it up, don’t have to worry about it getting stolen.

In terms of watch for dollars, it's a terrible bargain. It's obviously great in resale terms, but I don't wear watches for the next owner. I'd take a lightly used Pelagos or Planet Ocean (both around $4k) before spending my money on a Submariner. Or a BB58 if it fit my wrist

I like the features on the watch very much, and wore it happily for the first day. The next morning, it didn't restart. So there was, at least, a problem with the power reserve; it had been only 6 hours. I carefully moved it to rewind, which did nothing, and only with a gentle tap would the movement start up

my take: the everyday watch gotta have a date, preferably day/date, *at least* 100m water resistance, crazy comfortable to wear, good in every outfit (unless you have a particular watch for dressy occasions). anything from Sinn is a good idea, but you can also look at the Tudor Black Bay 58, if you don't own it already. oh and Yema makes some excellent divers that are usually in the 1k bucks range.
