 And it's a real sensitive sounding snare drum. I have it tuned up kind of high but like I said it's versatile, you can tune it down low, put a little dampening on it and you can get a totally different sound if you'd like. But it's got a nice volume bump from the edge of the drum to the center. It's sensitive in the hands and it's got a nice big cracky back beat when I want to play a simple kind of funky or kind of rock beat

 Just a little simple bolt clamps on and stays in place so you're good to go there. The sound of these drums is great. The mahogany wood with Gretches thirty degree bearing edges adds to that warm tone. Let me turn the snare wires off and play you the sound of these toms

 But first, let's get into the hardware. The hardware in this kit, really cool, very versatile and heavy duty, works really well. Got the big Gretsch gas cap on the kick drum here, holds the rack tom in place, nice and sturdy and it's a great visual feature as well. You got a ball joint and your single tom holder right here, you can also attach another cymbal arm here if you'd like to

 Do your old Gene Krupa exercises if you want to with this kit. The snare drum is really sensitive, comes with a nice ratchet style throw off while you're on the left hand side, really easy to use on and off very quickly with the snare drum wires. And it's a real sensitive sounding snare drum. Great Kit

I needed something smaller and lighter without sacrificing tone and quality. I tried all the drum sets in Guitar Center. I was hoping to get The DW set but I was not that impressed with the tone VS the cost.

 Go ahead and leave me a comment below giving me your thoughts on the improvements that they've done to this kit, the finishes, the new bass drum mount. I definitely think they have upped the game for this kit while still trying to keep the price as low as possible so all of us can get it into our hands. Especially if you're looking for either a classic tone drum set or just a smaller drum set that's easy to pack up. So that's going to do it for today and as always remember if you want to stay up to date on the latest drum gear, pick up tips and tricks and look at products like we did today

 We're going to hop in the car, we're going to go right over to Hugh's house. He has a brand new Catalina Club in a very pretty finish. I'll show you pictures and video of all of the upgrades. These include things like new claw hooks for the bass drum hoops, a new tom mount which looks amazing, it looks like they have redone the tension rods, and even though I didn't get any film of it, it looks like they are doing a better job of finishing the inside of the shell as far as sanding it down and making it look really nice

 So I ended up with all three of us there with the drum set and that's what you're going to see for the sound examples. You will hear Hugh playing it himself and then you'll hear Cedric playing it, which will give you a nice variety in somebody that doesn't hit very hard and somebody that hits a little harder. And obviously because their styles are different, the drums will sound a little different as how far as they will react. Now keep in mind, Hugh is a Dixieland swing jazz type player

 Of course, there's a couple of drummers hanging out. Drummers want to come and hang. So I ended up with all three of us there with the drum set and that's what you're going to see for the sound examples. You will hear Hugh playing it himself and then you'll hear Cedric playing it, which will give you a nice variety in somebody that doesn't hit very hard and somebody that hits a little harder

 So he does tune these drums in the medium high, maybe to high range. So just keep in mind that you can go lower with the tunings. These drums in my experience and with this new version of the kit have a wide tuning range. So just keep that in mind as you see what we see on the next couple of shots

Cheap but good touring drumkit suggestions

 Drum head wise this kit comes with a complement of Chinese made Remo heads with the pearl logos on them. You've got something akin to a power stroke head on the kick drum, then you have single ply heads on everything else, you've got clear heads on the toms and a coated head on the snare. It's worth noting this kit also comes with a bass drum muffling pillow and some Velcro in there too so you've got a way you can muffle that kick drum straight away. The bass drum in this kit has a fairly neutral character, it's not got a tonne of low end but it is definitely a usable sound

 As far as the hardware goes we've got two cymbal stands, a hi-hat stand, we've got a snare stand and also a bass drum pedal. This whole bundle comes in at £803 so that's a lot of gear for your money. Let's check out how it sounds in a bit more detail. Let's see how it sounds

 It's worth noting this kit also comes with a bass drum muffling pillow and some Velcro in there too so you've got a way you can muffle that kick drum straight away. The bass drum in this kit has a fairly neutral character, it's not got a tonne of low end but it is definitely a usable sound. Those power stroke style heads are definitely doing it a favour here because it's got quite a dead sound that's going to be really good in the studio or under a microphone and just generally very easy to tune up and get a good sound out of. The rack toms on this kit sounded really good out of the box, the note doesn't hang around particularly long with them but they do have a really good tone, mic'd up well, definitely great sounding drums

 I really liked the Opti Lock system for mounting the Raktoms too, kind of a scaled down version of the Opti mounts you see on the more expensive kits in the Pearl range, I really like that system and it's cool to see that filtering down to the export range too. It's pretty clear to me why this is the best selling drum kit of all time, for all of these features and great sound at that price it's obviously a winning combo that's going to appeal to a ton of drummers out there like we've mentioned whether you're a beginner or an intermediate or even an advanced player looking for a secondary kit, this could be the one for you. Overall I think my favourite thing with this kit is just the number of drums you get and the quality of the sound that you get for that price point. On the other hand my least favourite things with this kit would be perhaps that floor tom and the cymbals however if you were to upgrade your cymbals, get some new drum heads on there, there's no reason why this kit wouldn't last you for many many years to come

Pearl Export Series Kit - Drummer's Review

 It's probably down to how good the bass drum sounds I've got to say pearl bass drums always have an amazing thump to them in my experience so maybe it's that that keeps me wanting to stay behind the kit for even longer but I think it's such an important thing if you want to get good at the drums then you've got to put the hours in and a drum kit that inspires us to do that that's going to last for years that comes with great hardware that's got great value for money tick tick tick tick tick buy yourself a pearl export and a new snare drum.  One of the more disappointing parts of the Pearl Expo has to be the low to mid range tuning of the snare drum in this kit. As you can hear, tuned down low, this doesn't sound all that great. I've tried many a time to get a good sound out of the low range tuning of the snare but unfortunately it just doesn't quite cut it for me. However cranked back The first ever Pearl Expo was released in 1984 and by 1995 Pearl had sold over a million exports worldwide

 I've got a genera on the snare and an EMAD Pearl export shells use a hybrid of Asian mahogany and poplar and are cut with 45 degree bearing edges. They come in a variety of shell pack sizes and in this video I'm playing a 22 inch kick drum, 12 and 13 inch rack toms, a 16 inch floor tom and a 14 inch snare drum. One of the more disappointing parts of the Pearl Expo has to be the low to mid range tuning of the snare drum in this kit. As you can hear, tuned down low, this doesn't sound all that great

 I've owned this kit for over five years in my teaching studio which means I've been teaching 30 to 40 students a week, six days a week for over five years on this kit and I've not experienced any problems with this kit whatsoever. I've had to change the drum heads but that's something we'd expect to do normally anyway. One thing's for sure it's definitely built to last. I love the bass drum on this kit

Pearl Export In-depth Review and Sound Test! A Best and Worst Gear Review

 Hi everyone, it's Scott here at SoundAttack, the famous drumming shop, and I want to show you the new Pearl export series we've got here. So this is the latest model, the first new colour for 2020, this is the matte white finish which looks really, really nice. So the other key changes that Pearl have done with the export is the bass drum, they've put a white coated head on the front as a resonant head with a porthole, so it's all ready for letting the air out and for internal miking or external miking, and it comes with a pillow as well inside the bass drum, so the bass drum sounds awesome from the get-go.
