Just under 3#, a good follow up to the Nimbus, likewise, good function and durability, nice design, but I had mixed feelings on fit. Given to my wife who still uses it and likes it. Gossamer Gear Gorilla (2013), won in a raffle at a hiker event -- great pack but a tad small for my chonky gear.

I backpack a bunch. One AT thru hike and a bunch of other stuff. Here are the backpacks I have used so far.

1. Osprey Talon 44. Still don't understand why this is not a more used ultralight pack. It was my pack for 2190 miles. It was trashed, I am not sentimental, I threw it away after my thru hike.
2. On the last 170 miles of the Long Trail I used the Granite Gear Vapor Trail 60 limited edition. Bought it because it was cheap. It worked well but wanted to get lighter. I let a friend borrow it a few months ago don't know if I will get it back or use again.
3. Gossamer Gear G4-20. Used it 14+ nights so far replaced the back pad with Various CCF pads. Worked well but not 5+ days or during the winter because of lack of frame. I still own this and will use again for everything 3 season less than 3 or 4 days.
4. Just ordered a HMG 3400 Southwest. I am thinking great winter and 5+ day pack and good for places you need a bear can.

 This is the Gossamer Gear Gorilla Lightweight Backpack. Now this pack was sent to me by Gossamer Gear, thanks Gage. It feels like it has a really nice carry on it. Again, like until I really get it on the trail

 There's usually one you'd like to hang out a little bit more with than the other. This has been the twin I've always hung with. Well, we're going to start out with the old ULA Ohm Backpack. This is an older Ohm

 This is the brand new updated Gorilla pack. It's been updated very recently. They've taken the shoulder straps and they've moved them a little bit wider in this area. They used to come in just a little narrow and a few people talked about this touching their neck

ULA OHM & Gossamer Gear GORILLA Pack Evaluation

 It's not a budget backpack at 255 dollars, but it is absolutely comparable in price to other well-designed ultralight packs, and it's actually quite a bit cheaper than some of those packs, honestly. And since the materials seem more rugged and durable than other ultra light packs we've seen, the Gorilla should last you a good long time if you take care of it. Basically, we dig it. I mean, this pack is gonna see some serious use this season, and since it's so dang light, we couldn't be more stoked to shoulder it and hit some trails with some seriously gnarly essence

 It comes in two colors gray and yellow, and is outfitted with a removable frame and hip belt, the ladder of which can be swapped out for a smaller or larger size depending on your size. The pack itself also comes in three sizes: small, medium, and large, and the website has handy measuring instructions to help you get the size that's right for you. It features dual hydration tube exit ports, loops on both shoulder straps, two side water bottle pockets, and one huge stretchy pocket on the front of the pack, plus plenty of compression straps, tool attachment points, and even a removable back pad that doubles as a very handy seat pad. The pack can also be customized to some degree, which is pretty awesome

 Basically, we dig it. I mean, this pack is gonna see some serious use this season, and since it's so dang light, we couldn't be more stoked to shoulder it and hit some trails with some seriously gnarly essence.   Maybe the small would  have been too small anyway!  So I persisted and with some further tweaking I now have the world's most comfortable pack!   Everything is well thoughts out.  can easily reach water bottles with pack on.  Main body swallows up gear.  Hip belts are huge and can take any cell phone and boy are they comfortable

  The zipper slides effortlessly.  In short, I am thrilled!  And did I mention the excellent customer service at Gossamer Gear????!!!

I've got the new Gossamer Gear Gorilla 4d backpack I Had the opportunity to take this thing into the Grove on its for the last couple of nights on a big camping trip and wow, this thing is amazing. So what I wanted to do is show you what I Was able to take on a two-day backpacking trip here in the Tetons Again, this is only a 40 litre pack. so I think you're gonna be pretty impressed with this

 On the side we've got straps. We've got two straps up on the one on the top, one on the bottom. I Found these work really good for now. Jeans got a second one over here

 Fits me like a glove. That brings me to one of my favorite things about this pack is it is slightly modular. You can strip it down or build it up based on your needs a little bit. So like I said, sit like pads

 But you want to go, try to do a little quick rip up to it a peek. So you want something more lightweight and minimalist, so what do you do? [Applause] Moving them state: Take it straight out, why not put that off on the side? Now you've got a nice, compressible, lightweight day pack. You want to go even more minimalist than that, A little bit of velcro and you can remove your hip belt. Even now, this thing's getting super light

 I Have had zero issues with that so far, but it is something to consider. You can mitigate that a lot by throwing a pack cover overtop. Obviously, it gives it a barrier so that it won't snag on stuff which I do sometimes if I'm thinking it's going to be really really Bush wacky On the bottom, we've got two little clips where you fit in the tips of your trekking poles. They slide up through here and they fit underneath this webbing

 This is a size large body with a size medium hip belt. At Gossamer Gear, you do need to pick those pieces individually, so make sure you're checking the size is to get it right. I Love that feature for a few reasons. First of all, it's nice and customizable, so if you've got a longer torso with a narrow or waist like I do, It's easy to get a pack that fits you just right

Great travel backpack

 Plus, the Osprey is unable to stand upright on its own (due to not having a flat bottom) and the Tortuga can. Thus, making it easy to put the bag down on the floor when not carrying it.  -comfortable carry-on bag that is designed as a minimal backpack. Can be incognito from budget airlines and can blend into a crowd of people in a city without looking like a tourist

 Though the Osprey had a better harness/waist strap system, but for the size of bag, the Tortuga's removable waist straps works just fine. Most times I don't even use the waist straps unless I know I will be walking for over 20+ minutes. Plus, the Osprey is unable to stand upright on its own (due to not having a flat bottom) and the Tortuga can. Thus, making it easy to put the bag down on the floor when not carrying it

I was torn between this and the Osprey Farpoint 40L. After trying both of them out, the Tortuga won. Though the Osprey had a better harness/waist strap system, but for the size of bag, the Tortuga's removable waist straps works just fine. Most times I don't even use the waist straps unless I know I will be walking for over 20+ minutes

Best Travel Backpack

 Bag was comfortable and secure, travelled well around the city and doesn’t seem as big as it is. Highly recommend for travelers who want a lot of room but don’t want to check a bag. If you don’t have inserts of your own you might want to buy them to help maintain shape structure but overall highly recommended.

I took the 45L bag from the US to Rio and back as a carry-on bag. No issues from the airlines and I had the bag full to max weight with equipment and clothing. Bag was comfortable and secure, travelled well around the city and doesn’t seem as big as it is. Highly recommend for travelers who want a lot of room but don’t want to check a bag
