A lot of people really like both of these packs. I've seen them both out on the trail, heard great things about both of them. I can verify this one

My job affords me unlimited pto, but I can’t be away too long so this works for me. Mixture of solo and with my SO. Gossamer Gear Gorilla- Most versatile pack out there.

Being able to get and replace water bottles from the side pockets while wearing the pack is also a must, ideally 2 smart water bottles per side. I have carried a Gossamer Gear Gorilla and HMG 3400 most recently. Both are pretty great at 25 pounds, but comfort drops quickly as the weight goes up. The feature set on the gorilla fit my style better (taller / more volume back pocket and big accessible side pockets).

Just under 3#, a good follow up to the Nimbus, likewise, good function and durability, nice design, but I had mixed feelings on fit. Given to my wife who still uses it and likes it. Gossamer Gear Gorilla (2013), won in a raffle at a hiker event -- great pack but a tad small for my chonky gear.
