I trust my eyes. I have been in the fashion industry (photography) for years and have a very sensitive eye for color, and especially when colors deviate. I have pictures on different colored leathers ranging from black to whites with many colors in between. (All pictures are taken in my studio with professional equipment) I then compare the color of the leather on two other professional monitors, and ensure the leather color in "real life" matches the color on the professional monitors, then I look and fiddle on the gaming monitor to see if I can get a close color to the real leather or the picture

As for color, I kept both monitors at the default color settings out of the box - the Dell had great saturation, possibly oversaturated. The M27Q appears less saturated, and its overall color out of the box appears more neutral, while the Dell appeared warm. Regardless of which you prefer, both monitors' color can be adjusted. However, no amount of calibration can fix the Dell's low contrast ability; the M27Q wipes the floor with the S2721DGF in this respect
