Gigabyte G27F 2 27" Gaming Monitor Review

 Welcome to Type-C Tech Reviews. Today we're going to be doing a review of the Gigabyte G27F2.

 below for the US, UK, Canada and international links, but let's jump into the video. All right,

 first of all, this is a 27 inch monitor with a resolution of 1920 by 1080p. Now 1920 at a 27 inch

 screen size brings the PPI or pixels per inch, essentially how crisp and clear the image is

 actually going to be to your eye. It brings that PPI to about 81 pixels per inch. Now this PPI is

 pretty low. I've definitely reviewed monitors with lower PPI, but overall this is a fairly low PPI.

 Now if you have a less powerful rig or you prioritize higher frames rather than more

 resolution, this could be a very good idea. However, most techs will be visibly pixelated.

 The desktop icons will be visibly pixelated. That's not necessarily a bad thing if you're

 gaming because it's always less noticeable. Pixelation is always less noticeable when things

 are in motion. So it's not like insanely pixelated. I don't want to make it sound like it's insane,

 but you can definitely, if you look hard enough with most techs, you will be able to see that

 there is pixelation there. As for the panel type, this uses a super speed in plane switching panel

 or an SS IPS. If you're used to an IPS, this is basically just that, but the SS is just a modified

 IPS panel that is faster, has a faster response time. That's it. For refresh rate, this natively

 hits 165 Hertz, but it has a factory overclock to go up to 170 Hertz, five Hertz increase.

 They did that. It's cool. As for variable refresh rate, this uses FreeSync premium and it does work

 well with G-Sync. I had no problems with G-Sync and most of the time you're going to be hitting

 those high frames anyway. If you do have a very powerful graphics card, I was running a 3080. I

 was basically never dipping in frames almost ever, but it does work very well with G-Sync. There was

 no screen tearing at all during testing. Okay, now for brightness. This is a big section for me. I

 love this section. All right. Now this is rated for 400 nits of brightness, which is a very good

 brightness and incredibly competitive brightness at this price point. However, after testing,

 didn't quite hit that. This was hitting about 340 nits, which is still a very good brightness.

 I do want to say that that's a very good brightness, especially this price point. However,

 I was just disappointed because I saw that 400-nit rating before it came in and that just like,

 it made me excited because that would have really set it apart. However, it's missing that 60-nit

 difference right there, which is definitely a substantial difference. However, 340 nits is

 still very good and above the average, which is about 300 nits. All right. Now let's talk HDR.

 Now for the brightness, as far as a room, this is just slightly above average. It's nice and bright

 in a dimly lit room. Games appear very vibrant and very pretty. However, if you're in an incredibly

 bright room with sunlight, especially sunlight, you are probably going to want to shut those

 windows or shut the curtains. If you are doing gaming, if you're doing like workflows type stuff,

 you know, typing out some emails, not going to be a problem at all, even with the windows open.

 But if you are gaming or want a more cinematic experience, you're going to want to shut those

 blinds. But if you have a ton of can lights in the room, you should be fine with 340 nits. Although

 again, if you're gaming, you're probably going to want to dim them. All right. Now let's talk HDR.

 Now the brightness does not substantially increase when you switch to HDR. Now the highlights don't

 get insanely bright. This just doesn't have the backlight for that. However, this does have a

 substantially wider color gamut than, well, most things in this price range, most monitors in this

 price range. And so due to that, the HDR experience is actually quite good. Now it's not going to blow

 your socks off. But again, remember the price having HDR at all at this price point is great.

 And the HDR performance is good. Battlefield looks great. Although there definitely are some blown

 out sections in games that don't quite keep all of that detail that you would love on very high end

 HDR experiences. However, overall for the price, I think it's quite good and gaming and HDR is very

 enjoyable. So for this price, that's really what we want to see. We just don't want to see a game

 breaking HDR experience, which we have seen before. So overall I would say this is great. And that

 moves us right into the colors, which is actually one of the main attractions because this covers

 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, which is incredibly impressive at this price point, considering all

 the other stats. Now they call this studio grade color, and you can definitely do some very light,

 basic YouTube video editing on this. However, anything more serious than that, you're going to

 want a bump up in resolution or a color calibration or both, probably both out of the box. Accuracy is
