Marin Kentfield 1, Giant Escape 3, Giant Escape 3 Comfort, and Liv Alight 3 Comfort. Our local area has a few hills, but nothing particularly steep.

It's really slow and heavy and I live near hills and have a really hard time shifting or making it up a hill. I had a crappy $300 fixed gear road bike back in the day that I enjoyed much more than this hybrid..

 It's a base model so it has rim brake. Rim/\s/brake is easier to adjust and maintain./\s/ But When I tried to go downhill, it was really/\s/scary. So If you always need to go downhill,/\s/ go for the disc brake version

2021 Giant Escape 3 Review

Hello guys, this is the 2021 Giant Escape 
3, the retail price is 550 Canadian dollars.  

It comes with two colour options Moss 
Green or Charcoal. This is Charcoal.  

I actually spent 600 after tax getting this 
one. Bicycle is getting more and more expensive,  

it's really difficult to find any bikes in store

This bike is the base model, it 
comes with Giant's ALUXX alloy frame,

alloy handlebar, and stem with Shimano shifters

It's a base model so it has rim brake. Rim 
brake is easier to adjust and maintain.  

But when I tried to go downhill it was really 
scary. So if you always need to go downhill,  

go for the disc brake version. It's only 
50 dollars more, it's totally worth it.  

It has much better stopping power than this one

It comes with a steel fork, 
so it's a little bit heavy.  

This bike weighs around 27 to 28 pounds, roughly 
13 kilos. It has Giant 700x38c 75 psi tire.

Everything on this bike is entry level, it works 
pretty well. My only concern is reliability

You're not getting a Shimano crankset and 
internal cable routing on this base model,  

and it has pretty entry-level Shimano 
Tourney front and rear derailleurs.  

There's three chainrings at the front 
and seven-speed Shimano cassette  

at the rear. It has Giant alloy seat 
post with sports comfort saddle.  

The saddle is actually really comfortable, 
I am really surprised. So this bike is $500  

in the U.S or $550 in Canada. I always say Giant 
has better value than its competitors such as  

Trek, Specialized and Norco. If you are a casual 
rider, you're only riding during the weekend,  

in the street with your friends and kids, 
this is the best one you can get. But  

if you're really serious in cycling, you try to go 
for some good ride, and you need to go gravel or  

you want to get higher speed on your bike, spend 
a little bit more money to get the higher model.  

I already reviewed the Giant Escape 2 Disc, 
which is $200 more than this bike. It comes  

with hydraulic disc brake, better gearing and 
an alloy fork. And I also review a road bike,  

Giant Contend AR 2 with Shimano Tiagra 
groupset. That is like one thousand  

dollars more than this bike. I'll put

 Another reason I think this bike looks sleek is because all the cables go inside the middle panel of the bike which is also very thin and I think looks good. So I think that if you're in the market for a new bike and you want something that looks kind of sporty but is also very practical and fast, this is definitely it.  I Really only use about 14 of the gears. The lower 7 gears just kind of sit there and are never used. However, because of all these gears, this bike is really fast I find myself pretty easily doing 20 miles per hour. This bike is actually so fast that a lot of times on stoplights I find myself actually accelerating faster than cars they're braking on this bike is not great considering the brakes are disc, but they still work very well

The stopping distance isn't that far from a high speed, although in wet conditions that can be a bit of slipping. The handlebars on this bike are very Y which allows for better handling and agility of the bike

4 clamp to a handlebar that's going to have 30 millimetres of rise and then it's going to have these integrated shift and brake levers. So this is a little more basic cockpit connection on this bike, but that's what helps bring down some of the cost compared to the FX to the fork. Only beef is for the money, should not need to purchase an aftermarket seat. Not everyone loves wearing biking pants when they ride.

 But the reason they're gonna run these rim brakes is it does help save cost, it makes maintenance costs just a little bit less expensive than a disc brake format. And honestly, you know rim brakes still work pretty well. So if it helps keep the price down and you're going to use this as a commuter or your first real, you know, quality bike. I mean this is an awesome place to start
