 The Fenix has fit that purpose ideally. At the time of purchase, I had no idea that it would sync via Wi-Fi. And this is a huge benefit as I have a Verizon MiFi. So now when I’m out and complete an activity, I can power up the MiFi and have the activity sync with that

 I tested starting from the street level walking up to the seventh floor, my office level, and it was spot on.  The compass is what pushed me to the Fenix 3 over the Vivoactive HR model. The Fenix has a magnetic compass whereas the Vivoactive is GPS based. Not everyone understands that there is a true north and magnetic north

 And this is a huge benefit as I have a Verizon MiFi. So now when I’m out and complete an activity, I can power up the MiFi and have the activity sync with that. It’s smaller, lighter and the battery lasts a lot longer because it’s not powering a huge color screen. Not to mention it has a 4,000 mAh battery, weighs just under 5 ounces, and can charge the Fenix itself

 One day at the gym while riding a stationary bike, I checked the hand based monitor against the Fenix. Both measured the exact same BPM rate. I then counted against a clock and my BPM matched what the Fenix was reporting. I also have a Tickr chest strap, which I have not yet paired or checked against the Fenix

Samsung  Galaxy Watch Active 2 works well with Android phones for viewing notifications (and sending short replies to messages where appropriate). I also previously used a Galaxy Sport (until it broke). 

Only problem is, the ECG (electrocardiogram heart monitor) on newer Galaxy watches may not work with non-Samsung phones, which is an inane decision on Samsung's part. This has been the case for months, and still no word on when the feature will be enabled for all Android phones.

You can use Samsung Watches with any Android phone. But you have to download the Samsung Gear app and a couple of plugins from the Play Store. Navigate their collection as you see fit.

But I've personally been using a Fossil Gen 5 Carlisle since the 4XL's launch. The battery life could be a tad bit better, but it's reasonably customizable enough to really dial in what features you want to disable/enable. The proprietary charger is dumb though. They need to move to Qi/Wireless Charging in their next iteration.

Overall, a good watch that I'm perfectly happy with. It does all that I need it to do (payments, fitness tracking, notifications, etc) with good performance on the whole. But I do know that the Snapdragon Wear 4100 in newer WearOS watches is a considerable leap over the 2100/3100 it replaces. 

Anything in the Fossil Gen 5 range should do you well enough. But TicWatch Pro 3 has the newer SD Wear 4100. Samsung's watches have really came into their own, but I'm not overly sure how you feel about babying 2 software ecosystems. If I could do it over again, I'd probably buy the Skagen Falster 3.

I definitely recommend getting a tic watch pro.  You can get the one with cellular data connectivity and you can have them activate it on Verizon's Network.  It takes regular watch bands and you can put a lot of different faces has waterproofing you can even track your lap swimming. It's awesome and it uses Google play music like the pixel unlike the Samsung and Apple watches.  It's way cheaper than an Apple watch or a Samsung watch they're only like $225 and you'll love it.

I like my Fitbit versa (2).  Battery life meets my expectations (5ish days with always on display disabled), it does a good job with notifications, I can find my phone from the watch, and it has lots of band options.

I have the Moto 360 v3 and it's been great. Good battery life from an AOD. NFC and heartrate. Does what I need for £180 I spent on it.

Only gripe is no wireless charging and only one cable in the box.

 Now that I've found a watch that gives me everything the Peak did and more with an even more accurate optical HRM..I'm very happy. I'll use more of the advanced features as time goes on but for now, the watch has already exceeded my expectations

 I still have no idea why it needed 4 updates to be up to date. 5: Allow customization of the app. I don't play golf, I'm not swimming for activity. Give me the option to not see those

 Find my phone feature.  I was really upset/annoyed when my Peak Basis got recalled. Now that I've found a watch that gives me everything the Peak did and more with an even more accurate optical HRM.

i highly recommended having one of these .The only issues with Garmin watches is the price . They aren't over priced, they are just expensive.

Great but expensive

 It has modes to track cycling, running indoors and out or treadmill, swimming in a pool or open water, hiking and several others. If you just want to track your evening walk around the park I wouldn't recommend this watch. It will meet your low expectations but at a much higher cost than you need to spend.  I keep it linked to my cell phone while in the states so all emails and text messages show up on my phone

 This watch will keep you informed every step along the way and reduce your time once you are back doing reports so you can get back to what you would rather be doing...

 What ultimately worked was 3D Printing a dock of my own. It's on Thingiverse if anyone else has this problem. I've had trouble with the docks in the past watches, but this is a step backwards for the Ticwatch. They really need to step it up with this on the next version and maybe consider wireless charging
