I’m currently running with an Apple Watch S3. Used to use the Strava app but hate the lack of recorded metrics so now using the Apple Workouts app then importing to Strava. I’m current a 5-10km runner with dreams of long endurance distances. I would say I’m more of a data-loving recreational runner who likes to push myself than a super serious runner

To clarify, I will only be using the Garmin for sport right now, I intend to keep my AW as my every day watch at least until it dies. 

So here I am, looking at Garmins. Initially I was interested in the 45S as it’s cheap enough to not make me feel guilty about having 2 watches. It seems to more or less do what I’ll want it to do in terms of designing training runs and has the same if not more metrics I’m currently getting from my Apple Watch. I’m looking at buying 2nd hand and I think I could get one for under £100

TL;DR: I’m a recreational 10k runner, mostly trail with training on road. I could buy a second hand 45S for less than £100 (submitted an offer for £65 so that could be the lowest price), or a brand new 645 music for £199 - are the additional features redundant for me or would it be mad to not buy the 645 for only £100 more?!

 So we can see the startup times are gon na be much shorter and then it's gon na be a lot faster route. Calculation, oh and the 10:30 plus also is gon na, have different tones and beeps. So it's gon na sound a little bit different than the original edge 10:30. So that's everything new in terms of the hardware differences, but now on to the software differences and we're first gon na start out with this setup process, so they've actually streamlined this quite a bit

 That makes the touchscreen much more responsible. It'S gon na be very predictable and honestly quite enjoyable to use, and then, with that new processor, there will be a lot of improvements in regards to the performance. Garmin Edge 1030 Plus // In Depth Review

 This can be very sluggish, and unresponsive like touch accuracy can be a bit of a problem where you might think you're hitting a button, but it won't register they're hitting the button and will do something completely different, so I'm just not at all sold on touchscreen GPS. I would much prefer buttons personally. I would say that the touchscreen makes setting up this unit vastly easier than any Garmin I've set up before so it's kind of an on the fence thing. The touch screen can be good, but it can also be very annoying and speaking of setup

 With this thing it's great, but for 750 bucks, that's just so much money. I personally, I can't justify it. There are too many cheaper units that do so much that I don't feel like. I have to spend all that extra money to get what this unit can do, but for those of you who do a lot of touring, maybe or you really want the absolute best Maps, you want the best screen

 It'S not really up to date. Either, if you compare what's in here to what's on Google Maps, it is nowhere near as detailed. So what I'm trying to say with this is that at some point, Garmin has to stop trying to do everything on the unit itself and start letting the smartphone do. Some stuff for you, it's okay, to outsource some functions to a smartphone

 It makes the maps look gorgeous, there's a lot of cool use of color in there too. So the hardware looks great and it feels great to use big tick for the Garmin there now. The second thing that I really like - and this was a complete surprise - is the battery life. This thing is, surprisingly, it has a really great battery

 Let'S get into it. [ Music. ] start with the first thing: that's good about this unit, the hardware - it is an absolutely beautiful unit, it's sleek and minimalist. I like the way it mixes, both white and black, binding around the case, and, yes, it's quite large, but honestly you get used to it

During my 6 months with a 1030 I have lived through a lot of firmware bugs that Garmin has fixed, unfixed, and fixed again. The latest 5.0 firmware seems to have solved the system lockup issues I was having. Using the 1030 by itself is okay now but not so okay when paired with my new Varia RTL510 radar taillight

 That'S quite a loss of money, and I think the thing that we need to work out that we're going to try and work out over the course of reviewing it is whether it justifies the premium over the Garmin Edge 820. The edge 820 is a hundred and thirty pounds cheaper, it's a bit smaller and it has most of the same features as the ten thirty. Obviously, if navigation is your main priority or you want to squeeze as many data fields as possible onto your screen, you might want that bigger display, and there are some extra features on the ten thirty that you just don't get with the eight twenty. But I do wonder if, for many of us, the 820 is really going to be all you need

 Also, the whole packaging of the ten-thirty is just very slick. You can tell that this isn't Garmin's first rodeo, the big thing I'm sure you all care about is how expensive the edge 1030 is now its 499 pounds and 99 pence in the UK or 599 US dollars. That'S quite a loss of money, and I think the thing that we need to work out that we're going to try and work out over the course of reviewing it is whether it justifies the premium over the Garmin Edge 820. Poseidon X, for the money simply the best bang for your buck gravel bike out there.  I am thrilled it's only a 10 speed or that it weighs like 24lbs, but for $650-$750 one heck of a deal

I've been looking at multiple new gravel bikes for purchase, but I cam across this. Is it worth $375? Or should I go with a new Poseidon X drop bar for $750?

Recommend bikes for under 750 USD

 My concerns with it are its aggressive geometry and just quality of parts as I've heard mixed things about it. I want to keep my budget under 1000, which doesn't give me a lot to work with.
