Fujifilm X-T20 vs Panasonic Lumix GH5

I can envision myself happily using the X-T20 with just the 35mm prime. It’s the smallest and lightest of the set I tested, and where it’s not able to fit everything in the frame, I can either use my legs to zoom out or, alternatively, live with a narrower snapshot.

The zoom as an all-round lens and the 85mm as a close-up when the zoom is used wide-angle. I don't think overheating will be a problem as interviews don't go longer than 30-45min either. With my old equipment I'm used to stopping recording after 30min, changing memory cards and batteries and then filming again briefly. Autofocus is also usable here and resolution for photos is optimal

Now there are some poor lenses too, but if you are willing to pay a little more I have found all of the Panny/Leica and Olympus Zuiko lenses to be very, very good.

A GH5 or G9 is the way to go for you, in my opinion. Unless you’re spending around 3000$/£ or more, full frame makes no sense - you’ll be stuck with one kit lens and you’ll need another grand to get another. In APS-C land, Canon and Nikon have nothing interesting, only the more recent Fuji X series cameras are seriously capable video cameras, but at the price point of a GH5 they’re generally inferior.

This camera is a powerhouse for the price. Full disclosure, my first camera was a Panasonic SD camcorder back in 2005, then switched to a Canon Pro camcorder in 2009, then jumped on the Panasonic train again with the GH3 and was using them until I picked up the GH5. It's one of the best sensors of its type on the market, and it sets itself apart from competing cameras in the way it captures color. The X-Trans color filter array is unique to Fujifilm products, and uses a more complex repeating pattern of red, green, and blue filtered pixels to capture color—a six-by-six grid, in comparison to the four-by-four grid used by the more common Bayer sensor design.

This is an amazing little package that can give cameras 4 times more expensive a run for their money. The Lumix DC-GH5 is blurring the lines between prosumer and professional with features like 4k at 60p, 10-bit 4:2:2 recorded internally, plus many more. Future firmware updates will blur those lines even further with a 400Mbp/s bit rate codec! This is an exciting camera that will give you stunning photos and videos (admittedly more on the video side). A must own for the aspiring photographer/filmmaker on a budget

However the auto-focus has difficult time when I tried close up shooting (Macro mode in X-T1) with the XF 35mm F2 lens. I have to use the manual focus by adjusting the ring of the lens. I found there is an issue when review the photos I took. Not sure if this is just normal, or this is something to do with touch screen or the color displacement

Almost perfect, the best 4K color depth video camera (prosumer) BUT for the autofocus problems in keeping the main subject in focus. Firmware update to support 4:2:2 in 10bit color is slow and unavailable as of August 2017. Recommend gimble stabilizer even with a LUMIX IS lens.
