I just got the Ikea symfonisk lamps as surrounds and they are awesome. They also are more living room friendly aesthetically.

Focals are the best in pop, alternative, and rock, and they have a pleasant soundstage. My friend and I did a blind test, and we picked different speakers as our best choice for different songs. I read in the past that Focal Aria 906s have a bright sound, but I didn’t find them to be harsh or bright at all. If anything, they are very buttery! Both KEF and Paradigm are much brighter with less bass

Those looking for really pounding low notes might be a bit disappointed but the frame sounds great with most music genres. The Sonos One still sounds a little better all-round but it is very close.

The Ikea Symfonisk is a Sonos speaker w/o Alexa built in so primarily a wifi/Bluetooth speaker. I was able to play music through it from my Google Echo but not simultaneously with the Echo connected to other devices. Maybe I am doing something wrong but have not figured out how to do it and I am an engineer so beware. It is far less useful to me because I can not stream music simultaneously to other powered speakers speakers connected to the AUX output of the Echo

Until now. The Focal Aria have a wow factor that nothing else I've tried have. Crystal clear definition, great midrange,vand bass whilst punchy rather than deep, has a presence in the room I haven't seen from other speakers of similar specs. Imaging and soundstage second to none - including the Elac's ( one of their outstanding features) and the ability to play all Genres of music respectably

The $179 Symfonisk Table Lamp doubles as a lamp, while the $99 Symfonisk WiFi Bookshelf Speaker, reviewed here, can be used as a wall shelf. Sonically, the speaker delivers a powerful punch for the price, including some impressive bass depth. Mid range is a funny one with the Aria's, it's super smooth and detailed and resolute, allowing so much air, space and separation between instruments. Sometimes this is absolutely their biggest strength for all of those reasons I've just mentioned. However sometimes I almost find this can be a shortfall, whereby lead vocals or instruments can almost sound like they're mixed lower than the secondary or backing parts. It's hard to explain but it's almost like with the increased width and soundstage your trade off with having a decrease in focus and directivity

How does it sound?The Symfonisk range offers its own sound that's similar to the excellent $200 Sonos One smart speaker, with a few differences. The One has a slightly recessed midrange while the Symfonisk Bookshelf and Lamp are a little more open sounding, though less refined.As a single speaker I found that the Bookshelf is brighter than the One, and comparatively lacking in bass. The midrange is expressive though a little ragged with brighter recordings, but it sounds better than a wireless speaker at this price should
