JBL Studio 530

For me it's the JBL Studio 530s. After wanting those super detailed cripsy highs for all these years, my priorities changed after listening to the Studio 530/570s. These things make a wonderful sound in a way that others just can't seem to produce and is just hard to explain. The other most important thing to me at least, is that they produced absolutely zero listening fatigue.

Sadly I got lemons. They sound unbelievable good at lower volumes. I do mean good. But I couldn't turn them up past 60 rms watts they would pop and sound all garbled. I tested this with a rms meter. I am very thankful for the people that helped me out in my last post here, you guys helped a ton, and I ended up with the JBL 530’s. I’m thrilled with how it sounds right now. I know that it isn’t ideal to have the speakers and the turntable on the same surface but for right now I really don’t have any other options unfortunately, it’s a very small room, and I am lacking furniture. Eventually when I have more space for myself I will get some speaker stands and get these away from the wall a bit.

Arrived with a damaged corner. One solid triangular grill is almost impossible to install. Sounds great. Check your corners immediately. They are selling damaged goods.

Buy a new pair of JBL 530 and the matching center (or whatever type of better speakers you want) and leave two polks as surrounds

Quality of drivers, cabinet construction, crossover, etc. all come into play. The key is to find the speakers where the tradeoffs negatively impact the things you care less about. When I bought my speakers (JBL Studio 530) I was willing to sacrifice efficiency (because I don't need to achieve volumes > 75 - 80db) bass extension (I have a sub) and finish (they are for my basement listening room where the only visitors are my cats).

I have yet to put these speakers in an optimal environment, but the are clear, crisp, and do an excellent job with vocals as well as music. There is a little left to be desired in the mid-range, thus a four instead of a five rating. For their size and weight that are quite good.

Neither. Klipschs entry level stuff are not good.

Whats your budget?

Guessing by the options you mentioned, around $400(including amp)?

A pair of Emotiva B1+ or JBL Studio 530 are much better choices when it comes to speakers.
