I’ve heard people say the wood that the body was made of was bad quality and soft so just wanted to make sure they are decent guitars before I spend money on one. Thanks.

We've got the vintage inspired controls which is volume, blend and tone. And jumbo frets, the gear ratios on these are 17 to 1 for increased accuracy and of course 2x2 design

 So let's listen to both. So let's go to the extreme and again this tone control is all the way up and this is going to be just the bridge pickup. Now I'm going to take the tone control and roll that back all the way down. You hear how it's choked and how it's muffled

Ernie ball music man stingray HH. I have a 2006 and had it since 2008. It’s active and the best bass I’ve ever owned in terms of playability and versatility. Can’t recommend it enough

I'm building my home studio and I'm looking for a 2nd bass that would be active and very versatile. I also prefer classic body shapes. My budget would be about 1600$ usd or less if possible. 

I've been looking online, because I have only one shop in my area with 5 basses.

Looking for bass recommendations

 Let's get to seeing how this thing sounds. What you're about to hear is a tune I recorded with the Stingray Special. All you are hearing is a DI mixed with a Galeon Krueger Universal Audio amp-sim mixed together and then compressed, and that is it. That's all I did to the bass signal

 It's just an all-around workhorse, and it literally can do anything. I have this one tuned to drop B, and it's tight, and it's percussive. But, real talk, if you are looking for a workhorse bass to beat the crap out of and never be let down by, definitely check out the Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray Special. It will not let you down, I promise

2018 Ernie Ball Music Man Sting Ray Special!

The special has such an amazing mid range that means it will fit in the mix much better and has a more vintage tone. I absolutely adore it but I can't afford it yet so instead I'm using a Sterling with the treble cut and pressure wound strings to emulate it. Imo though the stingray special can do the classic stingray sound easily plus more sounds in a way other models can't do as well.

 What's up gear mortals? Trey Xavier here. On today's edition of Gear God's Quality Control, we're going to be taking a look at the 2018 Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray 5 bass. The model that I've got in for review is a white dual humbucker model with an off-white pickguard and a rosewood fretboard. Although if you're like me and rosewood isn't really your jam, you can also get it with a maple or ebony fretboard

 You can access the myriad of tonal expression via the combination of a three-band EQ and a guitar style five-way pickup selector switch, and the flexibility is really kind of absurd. Now I'm going to take you through the plethora of tonal options on the bass controls so that you can hear some of the different sounds that you can get out of the bass, and then I'll talk about it a little bit.
