The Denon offers much more in the way of features, and the sound is much better when it's being used for movies. Really this is true for streaming music too. The Pioneer sounds muddy when streaming music from Spotify or Apple. The Denon sounds crystal clear

The Denon system is especially BAD when ATTEMPTING TO MAKE ALL SPEAKERS ACTIVE. The Denon receivers are a great system trapped behind a Gawd awful poorly implemented system management interface that should be scrapped. I now rate the Denon THREE STARS BECAUSE THE MANUAL SPEAKER SET UP IS PURE OVERLY COMPLEX MINDLESS TORTURE! The Denon seems to have been made by the best engineers then handed over to the worse interface programmers to ever exist on Earth! The Denon Set Up Interface developers ruining what is otherwise a first class receiver at every price point! The only negative is that Pioneer only provides three personal settings. One of the reasons I purchased this receiver is because of Dirac Live room correction and the expandability to use external amplification. Best bang for your buck receiver, supports 4K 120HZ gaming as well.

Bluetooth not malfunctioning on any other receivers only this one. Final thought: this receiver has great functionality and sounds fantastic. But the Bluetooth issues are very annoying. Should not need to reboot everything for this to work correctly
