Battery Life

So lightweight!

The battery life is very short (4ish hours) and it takes a long time to charge (about 1 1/2 hours). The brick on the cord gets very hot as it charges as does the bottom of the laptop. Otherwise it runs cool. I really like that there is no separate place to plug in the charger

After fully recharging the laptop, we set up the machine in power-save mode (as opposed to balanced or high-performance mode) where available and make a few other battery-conserving tweaks in preparation for our unplugged video rundown test. (We also turn Wi-Fi off, putting the laptop into airplane mode.) In this test, we loop a video—a locally stored 720p file of the Blender Foundation short film Tears of Steel(Opens in a new window)—with screen brightness set at 50 percent and volume at 100 percent until the system quits.

Performance

BEWARE!!!! Paid full price for a new one and received a used one!!!

Laptop seems to be working "ok" as of now besides the WiFi issues everyone has been having and apps like Netflix and Hulu not properly working. Another thing that is concerning is the packaging. I'm pretty sure I was sent a used product considering it came in a cheap cardboard box and not in it's original XPS box/packaging. Also the laptop itself was not even wrapped in any kind of plastic or padding or anything and I am at a military base in Iraq

The state of Lenovo ThinkPad in 2021: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

6 - Lack of improvement gen-on-gen. Every manufacturer has coasted a bit throughout the pandemic, but ThinkPads haven't markedly improved in terms of weight, build quality, battery life, and even performance in the past 3-4 years (my frame of reference is a T480s from 2018 to P14s gen 2 in 2021). If 3 years yields little performance increase then why upgrade at all?.
