This is a superb laptop for the money! I am not a gamer but needed a powerful laptop for research and other data dense functions. It allows me to have maintain many open apps and windows without conflicts. Although it does not have a touch screen, for the cost it has the size of screen, power and lighted keyboard that make it a great buy! Who knows, I may even start gaming!!

Great Laptop!

just got this today so only have updated and installed software but it's very responsive and smooth so far. Going to put BDO and New World (alpha Amazon title) on it via steam to see how it handles gaming on ultra and such. It should outperform my desktop that's 7 years old and can do it, this best be able as well! Have noticed it runs a bit warm already just to let you know, I bought a cooling pad for it but that's coming tomorrow I'll use these small fans I got for receiver in meantime. Will update later of course

I originally purchased a gaming laptop that also served me well for just general use, and had a 1TB space. This one has even shorter battery life (should have checked the reviews and I would have seen 4 hours, if you aren't even using it for gaming) and only the 512GB drive - of course which the OS is taking residence on so even less space. Probably great as long as you have it plugged in, but I travel a lot, so battery life sucks. I guess this is the cost when getting a better graphics card?

 In most cases the 6600M matches or beats the RTX 3060 operating at similar speeds and in some games it even comes close to matching a 100 watt RTX 3070. As a matter of fact its 1% lows are right up there with some of the fastest gaming laptops we've tested. It's pretty obvious AMD is really trying to push the RX 6600M series as a more affordable alternative to the RTX 3000 series for notebook companies who are using Ryzen CPUs. Even though this was the lowest priced laptop in our charts it actually competed against devices that cost hundreds more

 The only other glaring hiccup was battery life but obviously that's something that can be fixed through a software or bios patch and with the teams over at Omen and AMD looking into things hopefully there'll be a fix very soon. HP Omen 16 Review - RX 6600M Arrives in a BIG Way!

 With this simple exterior, immediately thinking that this is something I would feel more comfortable taking with me on the road. On a more serious and relatable note, the outside is very smooth. It's actually a very nice matte finish and I've noticed that with the little bit of grease that comes from the skin, they're not leaving as many fingerprints as they would on other designs which I'm immediately pleased with. So this is gonna be one of the bigger things that we're gonna be looking forward to in this laptop review which is, is this design for cooling enough to keep the computer quiet but also cool while doing demanding tasks? Okay, so specs-wise for this computer, we are working with a Ryzen 7 5800H for the processor, 16 gigabytes of RAM, and for the GPU, we have a Radeon RX 6600M

 I hate laptops, they're cringe, is typically my stance on portable computing. The reason that's my stance is we all know by now that typically whenever you try to do anything demanding on a laptop it turns into And the next thing you know, you have chestnuts roasting on an open fire And your laptop doesn't work. For me, a passing grade on a computer is being able to game or edit without the fan sounding like Or it becoming so hot that the computer starts to stutter and slow down. That trade-off shouldn't exist when you get a laptop over a desktop

 Which is interesting to me because that just goes to show that there was a lot of thought that was actually put into this cooling design, which helps limit the sound that this laptop will emit when it's under load. I will say some closing remarks before we're done reviewing this laptop. I'm actually pleasantly surprised with this thing. I say that not just because I'm being paid to review this, but for one major reason

 I know it's not very gamer-y but I like it. There's also the gradient Omen logo on the lid and the hinge here is what HP calls the floating hinge design and that's because of the space between the hinge and the bottom bezel. Anyway this is a 135 degree hinge and I like that the lid can be opened with one hand. Now HP says this is a 16-inch laptop in the frame of a 15-inch laptop and that's because the side and the top bezels are very narrow giving the laptop a very modern look and also obviously helping it cut down on the space

 Now the brightness is fine mostly but I would have liked the display to be brighter than 300 nits. Anyway I will talk about the other design elements but let's talk about the specs and the performance. The HP Omen 16 comes with the 12 gen Intel Core i7-12700H chipset with Intel's Turbo Max technology 3.0 that can go up to 4

The New HP Omen 16 (2022): Good Gaming Laptop for the Price?

 If we were able to do that, we would see much higher battery life performance out of this laptop. But basically whenever you're running this laptop, you can't get away from running the background of the GPU. Even if you're not doing GPU intensive tasks, it just seems to kind of use it along the way, which ends up burning more battery life than it would need to if it had that IGPU switch, like some of the Asus laptops that are on the market now. The keyboard deck is great because I personally don't use a numpad

 Now the Intel version has really good thermals, had mid sixties to even high fifties for the 4K video editing export. So if you're going to choose one of these laptops based off of thermal performance alone, I would choose the Intel, but my big complaint for the Ryzen version is the high thermal temperatures while conducting 4K video editing exports, working in Photoshop and doing 3D modeling. It was just a little hot for my preference. And my last big complaint about this laptop is battery life

 One of the big reasons I think the battery life seems to suffer for this laptop is it doesn't have a IGPU switch. And what I mean by that is basically the ability to turn off the dedicated GPU and run solely on the integrated graphics from the CPU. If we were able to do that, we would see much higher battery life performance out of this laptop. But basically whenever you're running this laptop, you can't get away from running the background of the GPU

 It was just a little hot for my preference. And my last big complaint about this laptop is battery life.
