I've looked pretty extensively at the best value purifiers in terms of cost to CADR rato and found the winners to be the Coway Mighty AP-1512HH (note: NOT the AirMega) and the Blue air 211+. These models get high ratings from consumer reports and Wirecutter as well. I have 2 of the mighties for our bedrooms and a 211+ for our living room and have been happy with them. 

Looking for some personal recommendations from people running air purifiers in there home because im looking to buy one. Any advice or feedback is welcome 

Edit: my house is 1600 sqft, open floor plan, single story. 2 occupants, no pets, dust/seasonal allergies.

Edit2: Im looking for the best model possible for HEPA filtration and a carbon solution for gas/VOC/odor. that would hopefully work for most of the house. I will eventually add another unit or two to supplement. I&#39;m trying to find the top of the line, best of the best air purifier. Something that blows the competition out of the water and has a solid warranty and build quality. High purchase price is okay.

Noticeable improvement

 I keep mine in "auto" mode and that really works - if any type of particulate matter is introduced to the room (like cigar smoke, for instance) the unit goes into high gear until the air is clean again. I am quite pleased with the purchase and would definitely recommend this product.

Let's face it: my house is a challenge with the dogs running in and out and tracking in all the outdoors. Nice purifier, decent bargain

We did a lot of digging through reviews and Consumer Reports type publications, and settled on Winix 5500-2 as the best purifier for the money. It has multiple filtering stages (and one of the filters is washable multiple times before it needs to be replaced) and has a large air throughput while also being very quiet (these are generally the characteristics to look for in a purifier). Still, 1000 square feet is a lot, and you’ll probably want 2-3 of them, placed in areas where things are dustier/smellier. They are quite compact and not too noticeable against a wall

Our home is open concept — so I figured we’ll need a fairly large air purify to cover the main level. (1,000 square feet) Are air purifiers worth the price tag?  that filter cannot be clean and it has to be replaced. This unit also comes equipped with a true HEPA filter. In the world of air purifiers, the true HEPA filter is really the gold standard for particle filtration. So anything like allergens, dust, mold, spores, any type of particle that travels in the air through this unit will be filtered out by that true HEPA filter

 You need proper air filters and you also need good output. And this unit does give you very high output at 250 CFM In terms of filters again, this unit features that washable pre-filter The washable pre-filter is the first filter that the air will actually travel through, and the purpose of that washable pre-filter is to filter out larger particles so things like hairs, larger fibers, all types of larger particles like that are caught by the pre-filter and what that does is it allows the pre-filter to saturate with those types of particles so that they don't saturate the true HEPA filter instead. So that is the purpose of that pre-filter And this unit does have a washable pre-filter And this is important because a lot of units out on the market have a replaceable pre-filter and what that means is that as those pre-filter saturate with all of these larger particles, they need to eventually be replaced. And of course, replacing them means buying them, buying replacements for them

 The units have equal output, so you have slightly better energy efficiency on the highest fan speed with the Winix compared to the Co way, but otherwise both units are very much equal in terms of energy efficiency and noise output. So what would be our final recommendation between the Co Way and the Winix? Well, it really comes down to two things, and that is gas filtration and price. For both of those things, the Winix is the better option here. It filters gas, is better, and also is a lower price at most retailers

Winix 5500-2 Review

 That's what you use to reset the device when you put in a fresh new filter to the right of that you're going to see a white circle and I think what that is is the light sensor that senses the light in the room so that it can effectively switch back and forth between auto mode and night mode when it's in the auto mode. To the right of that, you have what looks like a little series of holes in the device and that is the air particle sensor in the unit that actually detects the particulate level in the air. Moving on to the multi-stage filter design, the first line of defense with this air purifier is going to be the pre-filter And the pre-filter is actually kind of like a screen that filters out large airborne particles so that the layers behind it do not have to deal with those larger particles. The second layer is going to be a carbon pellet layer, and the carbon pellet layer actually serves to filter out volatile organic compounds and odors

 So then when you turn the light back on or light is restored in the room, then it switches back from night mode to auto mode. What's really cool about the auto mode is that not only does the fan rpm speed change based on how dirty the air is, the light in the front will actually be a great indicator on how dirty the air is as well. When it's on blue, the air is relatively clean and it'll be on a lower rpm speed. And then as the air particle sensor senses more particles in the air, it'll switch over and the light will change to orange

 Now with the manual speed button, you actually have one to turbo, so you have one, two, three, and then the turbo setting. When you press the manual speed button to shift through these fan speeds, then you actually shift the mode of the air purifier from auto to the manual speed mode. When you do that, that blue light on the front will not turn off the the plasma wave letters on the top will actually turn off if you shut off the plasma wave. but that blue bar underneath when in manual mode cannot be turned off to the right of the manual fan speed button

 And when in night mode, all the lights on the front interface design shut off with exception to the icon lights that are right above the mode button. So when you leave the air purifier on auto mode, there's actually a built-in light sensor. So if the lights are turned off in the room and there is darkness, the auto mode will automatically switch from auto to night mode. And when the night mode happens, there's actually a reduced rpm speed

As for noise level I have it set on either auto or 2, I fine level 3 is a little loud for me. The blue light doesn't bother me. The only thing not giving this five stars is the remote had a dead battery. Once I put in a new battery everything worked great
