The stropping the machine did was insufficient to put a decent, quality edge, on my knife. I then used my leather strop and now it’s razor sharp. Even though the manufacturer says you can sharpen pocket knives and the like with this machine, it works much, much, better when used with kitchen knives. It’s simple to use, easy to learn, you’ll like the results so long as you use a leather strop and you’re not a knife sharpening snob

Yes the knives are carbon steel and sharpen relatively easily, however the pivot pro really made quick work of the bunch. With no more than right passes on the carbide cutter and three on the ceramic the knives were extremely sharp. This is a huge plus being that they full so quickly cutting on dinner plates. I also wish manufactures would stop printing everything so small...this one is not so small that I need a magnifying glass, but still uncomfortable for aging eyes

This is a great size. Easy to carry in a pack or tool box or a kitchen drawer. Very easy to sharpen a knife or pair of scissors. It is so easy and the cost so good I bought another to keep in my hiking pack

I was able to take a kitchen knife from dull to professional shape in 8 passes though stage 1 and 4 passes through stage 2 and 3. Well with the cost if you enjoy extremely sharp knives.

The pivot system works well for pieces that need more aggressive shaping; using the lockout slider is fine for most jobs. The axe sharpener worked great on an axe, but less well on a hatchet that needs more severe re-profiling. The diamond plate works well, though I don’t anticipate it will hold up to lot of hard use (which it won’t see anyway). The removable sharpener for pruners works well
