Trying to pick out solar binoculars

 In these, I sometimes had to hold the binocular further AWAY, otherwise there was this "kidney-beaning" effect there the outer edge would just be black. It was rather difficult to hold them just-right to get a good image. Perhaps that might work okay for eyeglasses wearers, because the eye relief is further back. For me it was a bit difficult to use

 There is even a 1/4-20 thread at the central portion so you can attach these to a binocular bracket and a tripod.  Honestly, all of that is REALLY nice for the price paid. Can't complain about that at all.  When looking at objects, the view was - well, I guess for the price pad, it was not bad

I've been observing the night sky with binoculars and telescopes for 30 or so years, and I've tried to frugal about my equipment purchases, so I understand the budget-minded astronomer. I totally get that.  I'll start with the positives. These binoculars are lightweight, easy to hold, come with a nice wide strap, soft carrying case, plus they have firm interpupillary distance adjustment, stiff center focus knob that will not move when you press your eyes against the eyepieces, and importantly, a diopter adjustment for the right eye

 To be honest, for the $35 I spent on these in May 2020 (may be different when you buy these), that was more than I expected. There are four caps to cover the eyepieces and objects lenses. There is even a 1/4-20 thread at the central portion so you can attach these to a binocular bracket and a tripod.  Honestly, all of that is REALLY nice for the price paid

Minimally adequate for astronomy - here's why

 They are very good for the money: well-built, good lenses, pretty light weight.  I specifically wanted 7x magnification because that minimizes image shake when holding them by hand. The problem is that the pupils of my eyes are pretty close together and the interpupillary adjustment on these falls short of my needs. A larger individual would probably like these

I'd been wanting a pair of 7x50 binoculars for a while but didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars since they wouldn't be my primary binoculars. I own a couple of Celestron telescopes and knew I could get a decent 7x50 binocular from them. They are very good for the money: well-built, good lenses, pretty light weight.  I specifically wanted 7x magnification because that minimizes image shake when holding them by hand

About the only 7x50 binocular in this price range

 I was able to locate several star constellations and our neighbor galaxy — Faint/distant Andromeda with ease during my first use (early February.)  To a novice, 7x may not sound much. To someone with vague knowledge of the the night sky, will be able to locate celestial objects much more clearly with 7x magnification when compared to no aid at all/normal eyesight. These binoculars pick up a incredible amount of cosmic light, which caught me off guard during first use

Excellent choice for an Astronomer on a budget.

These binoculars are great for hand held night sky viewing, the 50mm objective lenses allow plenty of light to be collected and combined with the 7X provide a wide field of view. The magnification may seem a bit underwhelming, but I've found that while my 10x50 produce a lot of hand held jitter when trying to view the night sky, these 7x50 provide reasonable magnification while making it much easier to obtain a stable image. If you want to use a more powerful pair of binoculars for astronomy, you really would want a tripod mounted setup.  The moon doesn't fill much more than a quarter of the view, but the details are nice and sharp

 Whether shifting from naked eye viewing of brighter satellites, or using the binoculars to spot satellites your naked eye would miss, it's just much easier to find your target with the wider field of view these binoculars offer.  The specs don't suggest many bells and whistles, which had me a bit worried about fogging issues on a cold night, but as long as I let these adjust to the ambient temps first, I have experienced zero issues with fogging.  Overall, I think these are a great value for the dollar for night sky viewers. Any greater magnification and you'd want to go with a unit paired with a tripod, which is a bit limiting if much of your viewing is nearer the zenith than the horizon

 I would strongly recommend these for older children who are ready for backyard astronomy, either instead of or in addition to a full-sized telescope.  An unexpected benefit for me is that these have huge eye relief, and are the first binoculars I've had that I can use with my eyeglasses on.  What are the downsides? Two: they're big and heavy. And I think the field of view is narrower than on more expensive binoculars

 The view is clear and sharp. The pair I got was perfectly aligned. Above all, they are 7x50 "night glasses" that are just right for looking at dim objects in the night sky, like the Milky Way, the Pleiades, the Andromeda Nebula, the Great Nebula in Orion, and so forth. They are far better on these objects than my old 9x36 Bushnells

These are not a toy. These are real binoculars. These are GOOD binoculars. The optics are good

 Even if they are the same quality as the old made in Japan version as the manufacturer states, they just inherently feel cheeper now with that knowledge, especially since its branded directly on the binoculars. Overall I was vary disappointed with these and returned them. Hopefully they correct these deficiencies on for v2.

Best Binoculars of 2022 - GearLab

 I compared the Vortex Viper HD 8 x 42 with the Meopta Meopro Air HDED 8 x 42 (650 euros). If the Vortex, according to some reviews, is close to the top (Swarovski, etc), the Meopta ís the top: very, very high clarity and brightness and an amazing field view. The Vortex isn't that level. But, overall, for this price level, a good one!

 I needed a good magnification, clarity, large field of view, compact, bright and life time warranty. After many days of research and many days of testing, Vortex Viper HD were the best All Around Binoculars for the price. 8x42 is great but didn't provide the magnification needed. 10x42 provided magnification but was not bright enough and had a smaller field of view

I researched and tried binoculars for three months. I needed an all purpose binocular. I needed a good magnification, clarity, large field of view, compact, bright and life time warranty. After many days of research and many days of testing, Vortex Viper HD were the best All Around Binoculars for the price

Best All Around Binoculars!!!

  The roosting turkeys were about a half mile away and I did not have any real trouble viewing them, a tribute to the clarity and brightness of these optics.  They also peer into shadows really well which is very useful when viewing birds in trees with many leaves. There were many caves and crevices in the cliffs where I was hiking and I could investigate all of these even though it was very shaded inside them.

Overall I'm very happy with this purchase and feel like I spent my hard earned money very wisely.

Now on to the fun stuff. These binoculars are freaking amazing for the price, a typical Vortex product.  Super bright. Super clear

Great Buy, short term review

 I had some trouble with the dioptic focus ring so I sent them in for repair under Vortex’s excellent lifetime warranty. To my surprise they sent these excellent binoculars to replace the Talon. You can read other reviews about how great the Viper binoculars are. I just want to give Vortex a shout out for great customer service and the best warranty in the industry!!! That alone is worth a few extra bucks over the Nikon Monarch or other brands

Not just great binoculars, a great company.

 I shipped them back to Vortex and got them back fully repaired, assiduously cleaned, and almost like-new, after only two weeks. During the holiday season, too! These binoculars are worth it for the optics alone, but the warranty is excellent added value.

This pair of binoculars is my primary birding set. As the specifications attest, they are quite sharp, very bright, suffer no noticeable chromatic aberration, and have a wide field-of-view. I'm reviewing these well after buying to recommend them for another reason: the warranty is as advertised. After about 7 months, the bins somehow came out of collimation (not sure how, exactly)
