Celestron Cometron

The big disadvantage I see though is that you can only look at the sun through those; general purpose binoculars might be better as you can add solar filters. The Celestron Cometron 7x50s are generally regarded as decent for astronomy and still leaves some budget for the filters. For 50mm solar filters (which would also work on smaller binoculars, just tape them), I'll recommend Rainbow Symphony or Daystar Filters. Both are reputable in the solar observing space.

I just bought a set of Celestron Cometron 7x50s off Amazon for about $US36 delivered - for stargazing. And they have impressed me. 7x is forgiving of both the optics and the user of course, but with 50mm objective lenses they are quiet bright.

After reading through the sticky, I think the Celestron Cometron 7X50, UpClose G2 10x50 Porro, or UpClose G2 20x50 Porro makes the most sense for the budget. Are there any others I should take a look at? And if not, which of those three would make the most sense? They're all about $35-40, and I'm having trouble deciding between them.

I was going to advise the aculon, but the cometron has good reviews and meets your budget. The only question is does she use glasses while using them as eye relief is limited. Buy the less expensive ones, it should meet your needs.
