The Grail CF SL 7 is an excellent gravel bike offered at a very reasonable price. Canyon's direct-to-consumer sales model allows them to sell their bikes at prices that most brands can't match, and this is an excellent example of that. Its lightweight carbon frame, excellent component specification, and well-rounded performance rival the more expensive competition. At less than 20 lbs with a stiff carbon frame, this svelte bike is a feathery climber with excellent power transfer in or out of the saddle. The middle of the road geometry is comfortable, and the Grail is stable at speed on the descents and remains agile with responsive and predictable handling. The build is well chosen, with a quality Shimano GRX drivetrain and brakes, tubeless wheels and tires, and a unique but comfortable cockpit setup. It was designed for gravel, but it works very well on tarmac and holds its own on mellow singletrack. We feel it is an excellent option for training, racing, and casual rides. It could also work well for overnight bike packing missions and adventure riding.

 You get good value for money, really good equipment. You get Shimano's new gr x, 800 do to group set which is flawless fast roll and ties like wheels, get a nice lookin frame. I loved it.  Not had to make any changes they reach from the saddle to the hood and the drops is just perfect for me and when I'm riding the bike in the hood, which my favorite position, it feels very similar to an endurance road bike. I think that's the best. Parallel for this bike, when you're trying to decide where it sits in the whole crime like category it's much closer to an endurance, road bike in terms of geometry and fit and how it feels when you're throwing it around corners, some gravel bikes lean much closer to A mountain bike when it comes to geometry, a slacker, longer reach sort of stems which is better if you're doing much more off-roading, much more challenging off-road terrain but leans towards man's bike, with rocky descents and very technical features. But if you're doing high speed well groomed kind of dirt roads and gravel tracks and a lot of Road, then a bike like this, which leans more tools and enjoy road bike, is a natural choice and an easy choice and if you're new to grab bikes, are You coming from a road bike background which many of you are then their transition in terms of handling and difference

 I think me really interesting to see how the bike would look and perform with a normal hand, bar and stem setup. I only had time to get it together and go for a brief shakedown ride, but it did not disappoint!

 Your feelings about the growl will probably boil down largely to how you get on with the hover bar we'll talk about that a bit later, but first of all, let's have a look at this build. This is the 2020 Canyon Grail and it's got grx components where previously it had standard Shimano Road kit on it. If you're used to Schmo knows Road ergonomics, then this stuff will be totally familiar performance wise. It feels just like your usual 105 Ortega group set

 However, a lot of other accessories that you would normally fit on a handlebar won't actually work because there's no round section anywhere on the bar, you can strap things to it if you've got lights with silicon straps they'll work, but anything that uses a straight forward bar Clamp just won't fit, so the Grail is a very capable, very unusual-looking, gravel bike. I completely applaud Canyon for doing something different with it. I don't think many manufacturers would have gone quite this extreme on the handle bar front. That bar does come with some caveats

 You get gravel friendly gearing, so that's a forty six, thirty double crank and an 11 to thirty four, so essentially, almost like a mountain bike cassette at the back gives you a pretty broad range for just about all riding, because it's a double, though the range is Wide enough with enough small steps that it works quite well on the road and off you get a nice set of alloy DT Swiss clinches they're, good width, a tuber is ready out of the box and they are fitted with these Schwalbe g1 white tan wall tires, Which, most importantly, look very cool, but also a very versatile choice of tire. They'Ve got a kind of small knobby block pattern, a little bit like an old kenda small-block, but with round knobs instead of square ones and they're all really really well on tarmac better than you'd think, while still being usefully more aggressive than just a slick off-road. So good all-round choice, if you're using this to kind of do everything bike. Obviously you hardcore, gravel riders may choose to change tires to suit conditions more precisely

 You can buy and your most affordable route into biplane handlebar ownership. I'M going to talk quite a lot about this handle bar, which canyon calls the hover bar, because it's very much the defining feature of this bicycle Canyon set out to build a comfortable high performance, gravel bike. And they could have done that by using suspension. The way specialist did, for example, with the Future Shop, but instead they designed this completely new and quite wacky handle bar, which incorporates lots of flex and also offers a variety of hand

 Only problem that I would say is that when you do take the rear wheel out, sometimes lining the through axle back up with the rear wheel can often be quite difficult and there's certainly an app to it, which takes a bit of time to get a half. Now the spec in terms of weight for this bike, it's a gravel buy. They are slightly heavier you're, never going to get one. That is quite quite as light as a road bike

 The feature of this bike - the stands out, the most is obviously the double bar now Kenyan call this the hover bar and the idea is basically that you have two levels: the first with a bit more compliance, so that when you going over a bit of rough Ground it has a bit of flex, and then it takes out those lumps and bumps so that you don't feel that build-up of fatigue in the shoulders and in your arms and then the lower bar is for. When you want a bit more of a rigid ride and you need a bit more control over the terrain that you're riding for me in practice, I find it worked really well. The first time I saw it I looked at, I thought, my goodness look at the stay of that, but honestly aesthetically, it's really growing on me and practically also. I really do think it does work and it's that little bit of suspension if you like in the front end - and it does take out a few of those blows

 Obviously it's a different system. They'Ve got rid of the quick release with these hydraulic systems.  They also have the perfect amount of grip for a bit of off-road, but not too much so that he can't keep up with your mates on road bikes got a pop. I guess the way around, that is by putting a slightly bigger chain ring on the front. The skittles box tribute to my friend Scott calls it the skittles box, so we're gon na call it the skittles box now, and the idea is that, whatever you had hanging behind your seats before in your saddle, bag is now in the frame which, which effectively just Frees up some of that real estate behind the seat for a light which truck makes a special mounting light back there similar to their flare are, and I also claimed that by putting your tools in the downtube, it lowers your center of gravity, which is probably a Good thing also, this frame gets a new welcome change with the near t47 baby. It'S a threaded BB, which pretty much renders press with bb's obsolete, and this new standard is a little bit more reliable

 I had hoped swapping to these new 3b wheels would have made much more of a difference. They do have a 38 millimeter tire and are already set up tube lists and I was hoping they'd drop the weight of the bike by about a pound to roughly 19 pounds, which I'm surprised is not the case sure. Does a carbon rim with 108 points of engagement in the hub, but we are only seeing about a hundred or so grams of difference, which is kind of disappointing, but also a good thing, because it just means that these new paradigm Comp wheels are actually pretty decent. Now you could swap the bars wheel, seat and whatnot to bring the bike down sub 20 pounds, but I don't think that's really worth it

 My experience with this bike is, i thought it would be very slow handling, but it actually it matches pretty good. You don't have to really lean in too hard on turns. You can zip around corners fairly easily again, not like it's not twitchy like a race bike, but it's not super slow, like a big like driving a big tractor trailer, so i'm gon na wrap it up here guys, that's my experience, my first impressions with the domane Sl6 endurance, bike 2021 model in the beautiful all-black paint job really happy with this purchase. It suits my needs perfectly fine, if i'm ever in a situation where i can only fit one bike

 You get your race bike, you don't need something! That'S like a jack of all trades because you already have dedicated tools for those jobs, so my experience so far is this. Bike fits well rides, pretty smooth, it doesn't feel boring or slow, obviously, not it's not as fast or zippy as my race bikes, but nonetheless, still a lot of fun. The wider tires can turn it into a gravel bike. I have ridden these tires on gravel and it did pretty good it's going to get even better

 I can tell you right now: you drop a set of zip or envy wheels or a set of nice carbon wheels on this bike. Slam the stem a bit you're going to get almost the same ride experience as it's more expensive cousins in the family, like the damani sl7 or even the slr six or seven yeah you're not going to get the full electronic shifting experience. But in my experience as far as riding it, mechanical works just as fine still a great way to save money. Just get the mechanical bike

Trek Domane SL6 Bike Check: Black Beauty!

I’ve included the colors because I have a slight preference for red or black but I dislike the bright black/red on the Emonda. In terms of group sets I know Shimano has a reputation to be more reliable but I like the fact that I can put a pretty cheap power meter on the Rival AXS group sets. That being said I still want the best bang for my buck and would rather get something good that will last me longer than what I like looking at. I am very torn between each of these I’ve listed so would love some input, also if there are any other models I should be looking at

 So there was a lot of arrow features and the frame tubing itself has gone. The same sort of way, so we've got those truncated, cam tale, airfoil shapes that you associate with the more Aero bikes and they've done it on this bike here. So it's meaning that it is more efficient than the old version which yeah was actually good. But this is just way better strike have quite a broad range of geometries when it comes to their bikes, which of the many H categories

 It'S also a kind of a complete reversal of what Trek had been doing in the past, where they used to have slim going into fat. They now have fat, go and get into Slayer, but it works quite well. Adding compliance is skinnier at the top, so it just absorbs more of that road, buzzer yeah absolutely and it looks a lot cleaner as well. So you obviously you know, got the bolts at the back, so it just basically looks clean and is very very easy from a user's point of view to actually adjust and not have to worry too much about damaging a big bit of carbon

 When you get a bit fatigued, this bike. Has you covered it's so stable? I descended on this bike. Is like you can close your eyes: take your hands off the hill and just the bike or track it's just so good at doing that, and it's just there's no surprises, so I think for a lot of riders. This is a fight that you get on it and it just feels right

 When on the bike it is pretty responsive and really feels bomb-proof. The trade off is the SL6 is rather heavy, but for day-to-day fitness and recreational riding this is an awesome choice. I'm able to put lots of miles in the saddle with no neck or back pain. Again, this is probably related to the relaxed geometry

 The 32mm tires and relaxed geometry soak up much of the road noise and vibration. With the Domane, I really feel like Trek has made a road bike that is "user friendly." There is a substantial difference between handling and feel when I compare my 2015 Domane 5.9 series to my new SL6 eTap
