After spending some time on the Synapse NEO SE, we came away extremely impressed by the bike’s smooth acceleration, confidence-inspiring ride, and quality build. While the electric Synapse will only assist up to 20 miles per hour (similar to all class 1 e-bikes), this was enough of a grin-maker for even the most skeptical riders among us. You do pay a steep premium for the Bosch drive unit and 500Wh battery, but it’s a boon for daylong enjoyment on remote backroads.

As is the case with all e-bikes, the Cannondale’s battery and motor are very heavy (the Synapse NEO SE weighs in at a hefty 40+ pounds). If you plan to transport your e-bike with any regularity, it’s important to consider the weight limit of your rack and your ability to lift and load the bike. Another issue is power: if you run out of juice on the trail, it’ll be a slow and difficult ride back to your car. And finally, e-bike laws still are evolving and changing, so it’s important to know the rules before you head out.  Give me all the comfort i need when doing three or four hour rides. I, like the fact you have a two piece, aero handlebar and stem i like the shape of the tops and the drops and the bar tape is really comfy as well especially running out. Gloves when it's warm enough, which is at the moment crazy climate change uh to thank for that and on this bike to use the smart sense and particularly the radar, you use your own computer, either garmin or wahoo, which most are compatible now with the garmin vario Radar, low models use a device on a handlebars that doesn't have a computer, gives you a simple readout of a car approaching so different levels of technology based on your experience, but most people buying a bike of this price range, probably have their own computer, their own Preference for a computer so at least they haven't, given you a computer as standard with a bike, but maybe they could, in the future, develop their own or partner with garmin or wahoo or another brand, to give you a built-in computer, but is that a move too Far, probably we have been there before our bike's, giving a smart capabilities of bikes. So at least you have your own computer to fit to the bike

 Okay time. To sum up all my thoughts and observations of riding the new bike for the last two weeks into one concise, succinct verdict for you to take away today, only it's not so easy and there is a tale of two halves on a plus side. I love the performance of a new frame, the handling, the comfort, the speed, much faster than the old bike, much more engaging, much more dynamic to ride, and we have some nice details like an external threaded bottom bracket, a regular seat, post and semi internal cable routing. So those are all a win, but on the downside we have a technology that you can't remove from the bike and that wouldn't be a problem if the technology worked extremely well and worked as good as aftermarket solution

 So this new bike has some big shoes to feel and has it filled them? Oh, yes, it has. Oh, my goodness me, this bike is just phenomenal. What a package it's even faster, even more exciting, even more dynamic to ride. Yes, it's still just as comfy as the old bike, with the same relaxed geometry gives you a higher position than a race bike and a really short footage and planted in high speed situations

Should you buy a 2022 Cannondale Synapse with integrated lights and radar?

 But it's one that we, the cyclist editorial team, all agreed that cannondale synapse has always managed to deliver expertly. So the last time this particular synapse was updated was back in 2017 and that was tall intended purposes. Just a disc brake makeover for its predecessor, because, ultimately, that bike, which was launched back in 2013, was arguably quite a way ahead of its competitors. In terms of the features it was already showcasing um some eight years ago i mean that bike already had a lot of integration of components

 So it could be in the knicker time too, because i'll be honest, whilst this synapse did run out as unanimous winner in our head-to-head best of the best competition for the endurance bike sector. You know the competition is growing ever stronger in this category. So what were those key details that stood out for us that enabled the synapse to just edge out its competitors? So something i think, cannondale has really done well with the design of the synapse, was the way in which it's interpreted the endurance sector, and i think what i mean by that is some of its competitors have maybe over egged that comfort element by having really tall Front ends very relaxed geometry, long, wheelbases and adding in those actual moving active suspension systems and so on, and what that can do if you're, not careful is always the danger of making your bike feel certainly heavier, but even a bit languid in its handling and responsiveness And ultimately, sort of robbing the bike of speed. And yet it's speed that most cyclists all measure themselves and compare themselves by whether that's giving a mate to kicking up the local climbs or getting a gold award in a grand, fondo or perhaps even just riding, to work faster

 I don't know, but here's that sweet spot, that we're looking for really well so there we have it. The cannondale synapse undeniably one of the most prevalent endurance, road bikes of the current era and one that we feel epitomizes this genre importantly not by following others, but by treading its own path and delivering what is expected of it in a clean and unfussy way. You wouldn't expect the new synapse to come close to the previous model's svelte lightweight design. So it's quite a remarkable achievement that this new synapse chassis is exactly the same weight as the 2018 model. The synapse also brings cannondale's proportional response construction to the range for the first time

Cannondale'S award-winning synapse is the definition of the modern endurance bike and innovation has always been at the core of the synapses design dna. Does the 2022 model follow on or could it be an innovation so far, [ Music ]? It would have been very easy for cannondale to ensure the synapses success by just using lessons learned from the brilliant supersix evo and the system 6 to produce their modernized synapse. It seems that wasn't on cannondale's agenda for the 2022 model, whereas previous incarnations in the synapse kept a more race-like bike design. With this new version, they've shifted far more to a real world, rider integrated lights and even a new cannondale specific version of garmin's underrated

 Changes are all about making the bike easy to live with it. For goes complex, internal routine, that's become commonplace on pretty much. Every modern road bike in favor of a simpler routine through a large port in the downtube they've, also moved away from the integrated seat. Clamp evolved in favor of a standard, alloy ring binder and slotted seat tube

 The new synapse rightfully keeps its place as one of the best endurance bikes around it's up there with the likes of specialized roubaix giants, dufy and cevallos caledonia. It'S handling meets what i love about great road bikes that compelling mix of sure footage stability and fast handling. 2022 Cannondale Synapse Review | Most Practical Synapse Yet? Or More Unwanted Tech?

 Meanwhile was starting elementary school and at cannondale they just launched the synapse [ Music ]. It'S helped to shape what an endurance road bike is a bike for road riding, as opposed to being designed for professional racing. In essence, there's more comfort built into the bike. The handling is a little bit more refined and the riding position is for an actual human being, as opposed to a wannabe racing snake now over the years

I think anyway, and just how important aerodynamics is to our efficiency, whether we're after increasing speed or increasing distance, and that's true, no matter what your baseline power value, but importantly, can they'll say that these aerodynamic tweaks haven't added any weight to the frame set compared to The previous version, which comes in a shade over 900 grams, and it hasn't also affected the compliance of the frame plate. In fact, the compliance has increased, cannondale, say and is now also size specific, so that the amount varies across the frame size spectrum to maintain those riding characteristics

 So if you ask me to give a rating on this bike well maybe I'll just break it down into different segments number one is the price definitely I think unarguable that is a five out of five $870 for this whole setup it's really a bargain next I will say for performance wise we'll probably decide to give it a three well that is because when our team is actually riding it we feel that the pickup or you say the acceleration is a little bit sluggish well perhaps that is due to the bike not being very stiff but to be fair the bike is actually designed for endurance while it's not designed for race so it is only fair to say so to be fair the bike is actually designed for endurance not really designed for race. Next for component we'll say it is a 4.5 out of five we really love all the components for this price point yes remember that all the things I'm rating on has got to do in relative with its price so with this price point we say the components we get are absolutely very good except for the tyres can be improved and the bar tips which is very cheap can be improved. Okay the last segment that we want to rate this bike on is on its comfort on the riding comfort of this bike now definitely this bike deserves a five out of five score why because the geometry itself actually allows your body to ride at a much more upright posture and coupled with a 28 mm tyres it's just just super comfortable to ride on and like we said before you can go kilometers after kilometers without actually getting pain on your back or on your hands and you know what I think even as a beginner like us to ride a hundred kilometers or 160 kilometers on this bike it is very achievable just because of its comfort level overall rating of this bike at 4

Triban RC 500 Review 2021 - YouTube

 So now we've got the Triban RC 500 in this case. This bike comes with a new Evo 18 6061 aluminium frame and we've got quite a tall head tube by road bike standards especially with a big stack of spacers under the stem to keep the front end high. That's going to put you into quite an upright riding position, the idea to put a very little strain on your neck or back for example. As you can see the bike comes with quite a steeply sloping top tube so you get quite a low standover height for any given size of bike

 So the bike that we've got here today is the Triban RC 500 which on paper looks like one of the best value disc brake road bikes out there at the moment. Triban bikes sold through Decathlon stores used to be called B-twin Tribans but Decathlon is now dispensed with the B-twin part of the name. So now we've got the Triban RC 500 in this case. This bike comes with a new Evo 18 6061 aluminium frame and we've got quite a tall head tube by road bike standards especially with a big stack of spacers under the stem to keep the front end high

 The Tribon RC500 is built up with Shimano Sora groupset. You get a compact chain set so that's a 50 tooth outer chainring and a 34 tooth inner chainring and at the back you get a 9 speed cassette from Micro Shift so that's a 11-32 cassette. That's going to give you quite a broad spread of gears so you can get some small gears to keep you moving up the steepest slopes and some bigger gears to allow you to keep the pressure on when you're descending down the other side. The disc brakes are cable operated Pro Max 300Rs and they're really easy to adjust so you get a barrel adjuster that allows you to dial in the tension there and you also get a bolt you just undo the bolt you drag some cable through and you retighten it exactly as you would on most rim brakes so there's no complicated new maintenance to to learn from most people there

 So it comes with a Shimano Sora groupset a really really reliable Shimano groupset nine speed so it's got enough gears to go up a nice steep climb it's not the lightest bike it's 10.6 kilograms so you're going to need a really nice groupset and a nice climbing gear right in the back. So it's a mechanical disc brake so this means it's cable operated really really good in wet conditions so you'll feel really really nice and comfortable and confident when on those wet descents. Obviously so this bike is now your minion frame and any of our minion frames sold through Tecaflon you get a lifetime warranty on the frame bar and stem to use on the components that doesn't include wear and tear
