The overflow basin does a wonderful job catching drips and spills with light to medium batters, but the thick batter may pool and spill over the edges of the drip basin. We also found that chocolate chips and berries would cake onto the drip basin and take some real effort to scrape off. However, if you're looking for a high-quality waffle maker that is easy to use and reliable, this is our first choice.

First time I used my new Breville, my batter was the Bob's Red Mill Pancake/Waffle mix. Those waffles didn't cook very well -- tough, not crisp, and a blotchy light/dark color. Wouldn't recommend that you use Bob's Red Mill mix with this machine unless you add lots of butter instead of oil, as well as some baking powder.  However, today I made the classic Breville waffle recipe from the user manual, using Bob's Red Mill all-purpose flour

  The initial odor from the non-stick surface seems less than with others I have tried, though it is still there.  I have found I use the maximum browning setting, but I am also using a gluten free mix. Not sure if the gf makes a difference; may just be that I prefer a crispier waffle.  Breville is kind of like the Ferrari of kitchen appliances; they are stylish and perform well

 However, it is simply not a match for the All-clad. I want a louder beep and a waffle that is easier to get out of the machine. I wanted to love this but I’m afraid that I do not.

 Whose idea was the slick knob? It is really hard to turn as it slips between the fingers. My hands are old and calloused so it might be my fault. However, they still could have put some ridges on the know.  On the plus side, it cooks very evenly and the temperature knob commands the temp very precisely

 Favorite feature is that it tells you when the waffle is done - the ready light goes on and the device beeps (presumably temperature derived). So much better than a different waffle maker I had tried before that simply had a timer that had no sensitivity to the necessary cooking time. Easy to clean, very straightforward to use. I love my stack of waffles - going into the freezer for easy keto breakfasts and snacks!!!

I have used this waffle maker for a couple weeks and while I like it, I honestly don’t think it’s worth the money. We had a $25 one we’ve used for several years (at least once a week) that kicked he bucket, and after a lot of research I decided on this one. I figured since we cooked waffles a lot I’d “splurge.” However, the first waffle is always too done, even if done on the lowest setting
