But then the non-stick coating began to come off. The person I gave it to is very careful and did not misuse it. It is just shoddy. Poor quality

The nonstick coating is good and I usually only had to spray it with oil once for the first waffle and nothing would stick to it. However, here are the reasons I am giving it 1 star: 1) The done light is insanely inaccurate, particularly on the high settings. I usually had to wait an extra minute after it turned green before the waffle was really browned. 2) The lip around the edge of the waffle shape on the iron is too shallow allowing lots of batter to leak out instead of pushing the lid up which brings me to the next item

It's just enough to cook all the way through and keep the waffle from falling apart. If you like that light brown color and a crunchy outside and fluffy inside waffle, this is not the maker for you. What I end up doing is making the imprint of the waffle then throwing it in the toaster to get that nice crisp a waffle should have.

It still works to make waffles, but the base and handle is plastic and I wonder if it's going to break too. Good news: I called Cuisinart and with proof of purchase there was no problem for them to send me a new replacement. Hope the new one doesn’t break.

Perhaps they could have designed that interface better, but hey - it works, I understand now why it feels loose, but it's just fine, and so I no longer care about that feature. I reassembled the unit and made breakfast. Yum! I recommend this iron, ESPECIALLY for the price! a definite bargain, in my opinion.

Too small for the price. Make sure you only put batter in the middle so it won't go over the sides. Not easy to clean if batter seeps out the back.

Like most small waffle makers, it takes some experimentation to figure out how much batter to pour (it will overflow messily if you pour too much) and which temperature setting works best for your recipe and preferences (I currently have it one step below highest). And it does help to periodically hit the grids with some cooking spray to keep waffles from sticking. The maker says they've weighted the lid to help expanding batter flow into all areas of the grid. I say more weight would help

Just the right size and it is very light unlike my older heavier waffle maker. It worked just as advertised and within minutes you can have waffles anytime. Use different recipes to test what works well, especially different waffle/pancake mixes. I blend in a banana, walnuts, and/or pecans for outstanding waffles, also fruit; however, don't overfill otherwise the excess runs out all over the sides of the appliance

even when we had it on the maximum heat setting. This new waffle iron works perfectly. Glad that Cuisinart keeps this product on the market because it's just the size for our needs.

This waffle maker is nice looking and a very reasonable in price. My grandkids love chocolate chip waffles. Very easy to use.
