No one is brushing oil on these things anymore. The world did not end, and my waffle cooked up just fine. I made another too and it was just great. If you cook waffles correctly, the cleanup should be minimal

It still works to make waffles, but the base and handle is plastic and I wonder if it's going to break too. Good news: I called Cuisinart and with proof of purchase there was no problem for them to send me a new replacement. Hope the new one doesn’t break.

what the industry calls "traditional" waffles. It was a challenging finding a machine that didn't make those overwrought Belgian waffles! I find this machine very easy to use. You heat it up, pour in the batter, and it times the correct color waffle for you. It comes with directions and recipes and literally takes about 10 minutes from batter mixing to waffle eating

Got this for Christmas and used it once (worked okay.. Wasn't the greatest) Tried to use it again 7 days later and all of the non stick coating started coming off onto the waffles. What a waste! Better get a refund!

The nonstick coating is good and I usually only had to spray it with oil once for the first waffle and nothing would stick to it. However, here are the reasons I am giving it 1 star: 1) The done light is insanely inaccurate, particularly on the high settings. I usually had to wait an extra minute after it turned green before the waffle was really browned. 2) The lip around the edge of the waffle shape on the iron is too shallow allowing lots of batter to leak out instead of pushing the lid up which brings me to the next item

This is okay, but could have been so much better. It's obviously made to store vertically, but there's no catch or magnet so it opens up once you set it down on a shelf. Cord doesn't have a built-in gripper (which would have helped) on it either. Also the handle gets just as hot as the waffle maker, and you have to have a potholder handy

For 20 years I used a Farberware 800 waffle iron that performed flawlessly and made excellent waffles until it finally failed. The Cuisinart waffle iron reflects a disturbing trend to squeeze the last cent of profit out of consumers by cheapening the design of an appliance until it barely functions. This iron has been made so light and thin that it lacks the metal needed to maintain even temperature. As a result, waffles come out with a dark, crispy ring where the heating iron is located, while the rest of the waffle is light brown

So what i got i got some of these at the orange automotive store, so we're gon na see. If that will make this work and here's one in place, i haven't ...

Made the first waffle, followed instructions, waited for the indicator to turn green, it was perfectly formed, did bit stick. Gave it to my husband to do a taste test and he said it tasted fine, the smell did not transfer over to the waffles. So I made the first batch and we ate them, it was so good! And so easy！I tried putting a little oil on the grills as well and it worked too so you can do that if you are afraid of the waffles sticking. But otherwise it doesn't burn as long as you follow the indicator light - pour in the batter when it is green, it'll turn red and take it off only when it turns green again

In all, I am happy with the price performance, do watch for a sale as I have seen the price go up by a third, and other reviewers have mentioned prices close to what I got it for. As a side note, I noticed that America's Test Kitchen tried to review this with a group of others. This item did not even make the first cut as an authentic Belgian Waffle is supposed to be thicker.

Perhaps they could have designed that interface better, but hey - it works, I understand now why it feels loose, but it's just fine, and so I no longer care about that feature. I reassembled the unit and made breakfast. Yum! I recommend this iron, ESPECIALLY for the price! a definite bargain, in my opinion.

I tried changing the batter consistency and time. Didn't matter. Still got a limp, soft mushy waffle. Didn't try for a replacement, so it could have been defective

Like most small waffle makers, it takes some experimentation to figure out how much batter to pour (it will overflow messily if you pour too much) and which temperature setting works best for your recipe and preferences (I currently have it one step below highest). And it does help to periodically hit the grids with some cooking spray to keep waffles from sticking. The maker says they've weighted the lid to help expanding batter flow into all areas of the grid. I say more weight would help
